About Charlie
Charlie is a stunning, silky soft, affectionate, clown of a dog!
His carer's response when asked for her thoughts on him for potential adopters:
Cute: loves a squeaky emotional support ball at all times, will walk around with it in his mouth randomly squeaking it and will constantly fall asleep with it in his mouth. - Any stuffed animal will be gone in 2 seconds and he gets very happy if the humans re-stuff it for him.
- Goes straight to bed when told and sleeps through the night (if anything you need to get him up in the morning).
- Knows all his commands like shake, find, sit, down etc (not ready for rollover yet) sometimes will just offer his paw for food to be cute.
- Countless ridiculous so so cute extreme spins to the point he slips over when it’s walk time.
- Loves a brush and will sit for it (new thing)
- Typical dobie if he wants attention will nudge you or send your phone flying or whatever else you’re doing with his nose 😂😂
- Just so so sweet and calm (most of the time).
= Loves playing chasey.
Not cute but definitely won’t be forever:
- Will need patience to warm up to new people
- Dogs - much much better but still prefers to view them from a distance
. Knows to turn when we see one far away and will seek direction from his person
- Takes his role as safety controller seriously! He has a bark that would deter even the most determined intruder or door salesperson! He does understand what shush means and warms to people who his humans invite in.
We are seeking a home with no kids, cats or other dogs and with someone who has large dog experience and is happy to help him avoid other dogs and gently and slowly start to feel safe around them. He is an absolute delight and will entertain and love his humans like no other.
If I sound perfect for you, please complete the short adoption application form in the attached link, please note this is the only way your application will be considered: https://homelesshounds.com.au/adopt/dogs
Medical notes
Charlie is desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and parasite control.
Charlie had terrible mange and skin infections when he came to us. He came from a home with mental illness, addiction, violence and a dog who attacked him and prevented him from eating. He will always bare some emotional scars, his hair may or may not grow back completely and he will always need to know his humans are calm to feel safe.
