About Lily
Please Give Your Warmest Welcome to LILY
9-10mths , CROSS BREED ( Ridgeback x Greyhound) , Female Dsexed Vaccinated Worm & Flea Treated.
6 weeks ago she was tied up at a rural NSW pound fence in the middle of the night. Ranger found her the next morning. Pictures below showed her physical state and mental state at the time. She was underweight sacred pup. Pound staff quickly noticed that she is a sweet little girl that warms up to people pretty quickly once she knows you are not there to hurt her. They also noticed she hasn't seen the outside world much so a lot of things startled her.
They suspected she was dumped there because the breeder couldn't sell her and she was loosing her cuteness level .
Almost 6 weeks on Lily has settled very well in our care. she is learning to walk on leash very well and her confidence is so much better when out and about . She now loves traveling in the car and adventuring with other doggy friends ; walking the trails.
Lily is quickly showing her quirks , perhaps that's the Greyhound genes in her
She is friendly, funny, silly and sweet at the same time. Very hard to be annoyed by her even when she does her puppy zoomies whole snatching your shoes
Lily is 26kg and will grow a bit more till she hit 12mths to 14mths. Although..She is half couch potato
She is Indoor Dog with access to outdoor for toilet . She understand the "TOILET" command.
She is House trained *she doesn't chew furnitures or jump on kitchen bench*
Crate trained *She has alone time in her crate to train her to switch off - a part of her puppy training* Nap time around midday to 2pm everyday.
SHE EATS MIXED FOOD: premium grain free kibbles , Prime100 rolls , cooked veggies, lactose free yoghurt, raw bones.
She Sleeps in the lounge or on her bed or inside her crate but always welcome snuggle time 24/7.
Playful w short burst of energy *again prob the Greyhound in her*
Always smiling and happy
Loves People but shy in the beginning *Just let her come to you and sniff you first*
A well rounded pretty easy going pup Lily is one of the most laid back pup we have ever met so far
Loves other dogs small or big. She is best to be matched with same size dogs or bigger. Dogs that are well socialised and more mature so she can learn from them all the tricks to be a good canine citizen
WHAT LILY NEEDS:
1. Because Lily is a puppy we are looking for a home where the family has the time to train her and continue with her socialisation *Her adoption incld mandatory obedience training enrollment unless applicant is an experienced dog trainer*
2.Naturally you'll need to be someone that is home more than not to have the time and commitment to have a puppy like Lily.
3.A Home with a yard and secure fence.
4. Due to her size & age; no kids under 10yo.
5. Not suitable for 1st time dog owner.
6. Ideally a home with a mature
well balanced resident dog same size or bigger. She thrive in the company of another dog.
7. She is best suited to an active family that can incld her as a part of the family adventuring together
8. She needs a min 2 walks a day plus continous training at home and enough mental stimulation through enrichment activities for her inquisitive mind ie trail walk, sniffing walk, hiking, beach adventure etc
LIKE ALL DOGS, Boredom or built up energy can drive destructive behavior*
LIKE ALL DOGS, she will need time to settle into a new environment. Generally it takes 3 months before a dog feels 100% comfortable in its new home.
THAT 3 months is also the min time it takes for a dog to built trust and a good bond with their human family where they finally truly feel safe.
LIKE WITH ALL PUPS, their bones are not fully developed. EXTREME/EXCESSIVE exercise ie jumping running rough playing must be avoided .
MOST COMMON QUESTION WE GET ASKED How's she off-leash?
As with most pups- they need to complete solid obedience training first before being able to nail a RECALL command ?? naturally, WE DO NOT LET LILY off leash at public parks.
How's she at dog parks?
A part from obvious safety reason ; Training a young dog to be a well balanced dog with solid obedience skills means we don't do dog parks with 20 to 30 random dogs running around everywhere.
HOWEVER we do pack walks , playtime with other dogs we have in care and with some of our adopted dogs that are still in touch with us till now. We create positive exposure and experiences through carefully curating doggy friends to do outdoor activities with; to build a young dog's confidence.
PLAYTIME is done in a safe secure home environment where Lily plays with her foster brother KOBE , or have a play date with her BFF , Narla or Oscar
If you think Lily is the dog that will complete your family and you'd like To apply to adopt Lily, please send us your adoption interest.
