Do you have confident, playful existing dog or two already? Do you have the experience and time to support a timid goofball continue to learn that people and the world is awesome? Then meet Spruce! 🐾
At home with people he trusts, you can find him bouncing around with a toy in his mouth like an uncoordinated baby elephant. He loves nothing more than big baby cuddles in his foster carer’s lap or chasing balls or toys thrown for him in the yard. He’s fascinated by birds, chasing them around as they fly in the sky and attempting to follow them up trees (he can’t obviously because he’s a baby elephant) but has fun trying. He loves other dogs and they are the key to him gaining confidence with people or the big wide world. Spruce is toilet trained, sleeps happily through the night in his bed in his foster carer’s bedroom with the team.
So here’s the tricky bit…
Spruce came into rescue an under socialised, incredibly timid, heavily matted and flea ridden boy. He has been in foster some time learning how to ‘be a dog’. Learning that humans are kind, homes are comfy and safe and the outside world is full of yummy smells and great experiences. In his foster home with his trusted people, he is a goofy, cheeky pup! Outside of this bubble he is still a work in progress, timid and unsure.
He is currently in a multi-dog foster home, in a quieter, rural area (with secure fencing) with lots of space to stretch his legs where he is thriving.
Spruce’s new home deal breakers;
-Must have another calmly confident, playful dog.
-Experience with timid dogs.
-Knowledge of a poodle coat, commitment to a regular grooming schedule and the understanding of an ‘oodle’ coat
-A large grassy yard for him to play.
-Someone home more often than not.
-Someone with time and patience to work with him whilst settling in and adjusting.
-A quieter home, any children must be 10+
-A family committed to training, after all he’s still a pup that like to chew and dig.
