About Pete
Hi! My full name is Eskwyre Pistol Pete, but my friends call me Pete :) I'm a purebred Welsh Terrier, and before I came to SAFE I was a Cruft's dog show winner and sought after stud dog. I've spent my entire life on the 'show circuit'--getting ready for shows, travelling to shows, competing and being bred. I've spent so many hours in crates that my owners never even bothered to toilet train me. My foster carers have done a great job with that, though I'll probably need the training reinforced for a while longer with frequent toilet breaks and a regular toileting schedule--and I may still 'mark' in unfamiliar territory.
I'm gentle and laid back, and I love people and kids. I've never been properly socialised with other dogs, and I'm confused about how I'm supposed to respond to them. I start out interested/friendly, but then can get defensive and have a go at them. One of the trainers at SAFE said that wouldn't be difficult to correct. I've never really had the chance to be part of a family, or just to 'be a dog'. I'm in good health so I should have many more good years on me, and I'd love to spend them being loved and spoiled, and not just being treated like an 'asset'. '
From the team at SAFE:
-We believe that Pete would benefit greatly from working with a professional trainer, and applicants willing to invest in this will be. considered more favourably.
- Pete will require regular grooming and/or clipping--every 8-12 weeks.
