About Maeve
Maeve is affectionate, loyal, playful and sweet- to those she knows and trusts!
She has an abuse history and has learned that threatening the offending humans with her teeth will get them to leave her alone. So don’t let Maeve’s cute floofy face deceive you, if she is feeling scared or doesn’t like what’s happening she will let you know with her teeth. Over time she has learned that she is safe with her carer and doesn’t need to lash out, however, she is still prone to biting if she’s not happy. Mauve will need a person that can read the signs when she needs some space. She should not be around children. Maeve’s defensive behaviour can not be glossed over but I can emphasise with this dog, people and large dogs can be scary, I don't like strangers to touch me and no- one gets to touch my butt uninvited either!
Maeve has lots of energy and loves a spritely walk. She is great on the lead but does not like to meet other dogs on her walk. She will give them a right telling off if they get too close, especially if they are big and scary. She enjoys saying “Hi” to people while out on a walk, cuddling up to the humans on the couch and naps in a warm spot.
Night-time can be interesting, either she will join you on the couch or she will retreat to her bed and not let anyone near her, this is a trauma response that may or may not fade out over time.
Mauve needs to be your only dog as she gets jealous of her food, toys and humans. She wants to be with you all the time and loves a cuddle on the couch once she gets to know you. Her ideal home will be a quiet life with one or two humans so she can learn to trust only them. No cafes or dog parks thank you!
She has lived in an apartment and was totally fine with an indoor-only lifestyle.
She is not for the faint-hearted but deep down Mauve is a sweet little soul who just needs a patient person that will give her time and space to settle in and will allow her to heal at her own pace with some help from positive reinforcement training.

Medical notes
Maeve is desexed, microchipped and up to date with vaccinations and parasite control.
When Maeve was found wandering the streets her skin was inflamed, thickened and infected. Her vets believe she was untreated for an allergy for a long time and it developed a secondary bacterial infection. This was successfully treated but left her with some thin hair in patches. Maeve’s skin is prone to irritation but this can be managed with the right food, and an occasional medicated bath and, depending on where you live (what grass species are in your area), she may need some allergy medication from the vet in springtime. Also, please note that because she was unchipped when found we do not know exactly how old she is and estimates range from 4 years to 7 years. She is an adorable little girl who seeks a human who is sympathetic to the effects of trauma and wants a small white canine to adore and be adored by.
