Meet Matilda our oldest RSPCA resident
Matilda is 41 years old, but don't let that fool you, she might be physically middle aged but this cheeky girl is as sharp and energetic as ever, she has another 40 years in her yet and she is determined to make the most of every second!
Matilda has already traveled across half of OZ starting her life in Adelaide in 1982, she was hand raised until she was 20 and her owners retired and decided to go on a caravan trip around the country. Matilda became a pet store mascot, which as you can imagine became pretty boring for such a smart bird. So she made her own fun by scaring the customers and generally running amuck. We cant blame her though, who didn't have a crazy time in their early 20's. Since 2012 Matilda had a brilliant home with her most recent owners, they have provided her with everything she needed to be happy and healthy. But some changes in circumstances out of their control have made it a lot harder to keep up with Matildas big brain and she was once again resorting to her slightly bratty pet shop behaviours, becoming frustrated and screeching for attention.
We are hoping to find Matilda the forever home where she can get all the adventure and enrichment she needs. She will need a large space (indoors with her family or outside as long as she gets the attention). Ideally someone who is home a large portion of the day to spend some quality time with, we have it on good authority that she likes to watch her people gardening, and occasionally join in. She will need someone who has owned large parrots before and ideally be an only parrot although non-bird friends seem okay when they keep their distance.
