Dior - 4 Year Old French Bulldog (On Trial)

Dior is a true delight. She loves everyone including little kids. Her happiest moments are when she’s with people getting attention and cuddles. She loves love and will gaze longingly into your eyes as you rub her chin. At this point, she may try to jump onto your lap, however when she hears "no" she will pretend she actually just wanted to use you to assist in her morning stretch.

Dior brings joy in the form of a big eyed, broad smile and a welcome handshake. She's accepted that she needs to remain on the floor rather than the couch, although we know where she'd rather be. If you decide to sit on the floor consider yourself Dior’s property.

Dior enjoys her daily walks, and is working on a little lead-reactivity. It appears she had very little socialisation before coming into foster care and very little exposure to anything outside her backyard. So this may simply be her exploring the big world outside of the fence-line. Her response to reward (treat) training is excellent so it’s expected she’ll be walking well with just a little consistent training.

She’s currently living with 2 children aged 4 and 7 whom she adores, and will happily follow them around, then sit and snooze wherever they stop. When the kids are out, she’ll do likewise with the adults. Dior understands basic commands including sit, stay, come, bed, down, lets go (when we are walking).

Definitely not for you if you want a guard dog! She barks only very occasionally, and has been non-reactive to friends, delivery people (both men and women), visiting tradies, vets, vet nurses. So living in an over 55’s village would be no problem.

Dior is fully toilet trained and currently sleeps all night on a bed in the living room.

There may be some ongoing vet work typical of this breed. Dior has grass allergies which is very common in her breed and similar breeds. This is easily sorted with good regular skin maintenance like baths, and antihistamines. She is currently taking an antihistamine injection at the vet every 4-6 weeks, to avoid a daily dose. Dior has suffered a longstanding ear infection that is being treated with antibiotics.

Dior's ideal home will be a loving one, where she is the only pet, though another dog of similar size could work. Small children are ok, as Dior is loving, caring and fairly small- however most of her weight is in her front paws, so children that are 4 and older, who don't mind a heavy paw tap on their legs may be better suited than younger children. She is becoming more aware of our children's verbal and physical commands of "no" when she gets excited and paw-taps their legs for attention.

Further, her ideal home will be one where she gets short walks over long ones. She is happy to be left at home, but so far we haven't been away from home longer than 2-3 hours.
