About Duke
G'day, my name's DUKE and I'm a Fox Terrier x English Staffy.
I'm just a little bloke, only 13 kgs, but I have a heart as big as a lion and I'm tougher than an old boot.
Want to hear my story?
I was a "bait dog", a little dog used to teach big dogs how to fight. Just in case kids are reading my profile, I won't say anymore about my past life, other than to reassure you I don't hold a grudge. My motto is: To err is human, to forgive divine.
Anyway, I was one of the lucky ones 'cos I ended up in the pound, where I was fed and looked after by nice people until I was rescued by Southern Downs ARK.
I spent a couple of days at the vet and then next thing I'm at my foster home. I couldn't believe my luck. My foster mum, Nicole, is so good to me - and she's pretty, too!
Foster care has been a revelation. I've learnt that humans, including children, can be kind and loving. I've also learnt that other dogs, like my mate Loki, can be good mates and fun to be around. I even like the family cat.
You can see from the photos that my wounds have healed and, although I'll always have scars on my face, ears and neck, they just remind me that I'm a survivor. My foster mum says I'm the most courageous and resilient little dog ever - and that makes my tail wag big time.
I want you to know, too, that I don't bear any emotional scars. I'm fun-loving, gentle, sweet-natured and outgoing. I'd love to be part of a busy family or a companion to an active couple. I especially like being around humans. Kids are fab and I'd love to have a mate like Loki to play with. A cat would be fine too. My foster mum says I'm a delight and no trouble at all.
