About Freddy
Hi I’m Freddy, I appeared on a persons back deck just prior to Christmas, covered in scabs, cobbler’s pegs, very underweight, and very unused to human contact. The lovely people started putting food and water out for me and I very slowly got used to being patted and interacted with. Once I found myself comfortable with them they provided me with all my required vet work and reached out to Belle Vie for help, now I’m ready to search for my forever family.
I’m a sweet little cat, with a lot of energy. When I’m playing, it’s all hands on deck – I’ll leap, run, bat at wands and pounce for days! I can also play a little rough and forget not to use my claws and teeth, but I am always just playing. I then found out about cat tunnels which I have fallen in love with, as well as some scratching toys which I use frequently. I absolutely love my toys, I’m astonishingly good at using the scratchers.
I have been around other cats and wasn’t overly fussed, I don’t mind being on my own. I am untested with dogs.
I’m not the most cuddly cat and do not like to be picked up. I don’t quite seem to understand why people are touching or patting me, I guess I have never had a family before so was unsure what love is? But I no longer shrink away when receiving affection. I can still be hesitant at first and take a little to warm up but once I do I won’t leave you alone.
When you don’t pay attention to me I’ll give you a tap meaning I either want a pat or more food. I’m a very vocal boy, who loves to meow.
I eat like a horse, and I’m now much better to the touch – gone are the days of prominent ribs and sticking out spine! I love wet and dry food, can’t get enough of it.
It was suspected I’d never seen a litter box before, but I picked it up instantly – I have not had a single accident in that regard, although there has been some over-zealous covering which has resulted in litter outside the box.
Due to my rough play, I am best suited to a home with no or older children who understand cat behaviour and respect my space.
