**Special Needs Cat**

Hi, this is Emma and she is a beautiful cat! She needs a special needs home and this is why. She is FIV positive. A lot of people have heard the term FIV positive but not a lot of people know what it is. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is a slow-progressing virus that can compromise a cat’s immune system, reducing its ability to fight off illnesses. The virus has a long latent period and then progresses so slowly that it may never affect a cat. That’s why long-term studies show that FIV cats can live just as long and as healthy, and ultimately die of the same causes as Non-FIV cats. The best way manage FIV is to be up-to-date on vaccinations and deworming, have a high-quality, balanced diet. Also if they get sick, to take them to the vet as soon as possible when FIV-positive cats do get sick with regular cat ailments, they respond well to standard treatments.

Emma has a very friendly cat and loves attention, and we think that she deserves a home where she can live out her life. She will come running from wherever she is in her pen when her foster carer opens the door. She loves pats and will lean into them as you give them. She is a very happy cat and will turn on her purr when she gets pats. She will need a home where she is the only cat.

We know with her gentle playful nature the family who adopts Emma will be getting an amazing new family member. Emma has had all her vet work done and is litter trained and ready to find her forever family.

As we are a rescue group, the adoption fee is not negotiable. Little Paws Kitten Rescue cats and kittens are indoor or cat enclosure only and must go to homes that intend them to stay that way, this is for their safety and health of the cat or kitten and for the environment. It is our foster carer’s choice as to which home a cat or kitten goes to. We match the cats and kittens to the adoptee; we do not necessarily “sell” to the first caller. As our foster carers are all volunteers raising the cats and kittens in their own home, we would appreciate you let them know if you cannot make an appointment.
