Meet our Fabulous Freddie
Freddie is a very handsome 3-¾ year old German Shepherd with a great demeanor. Freddie is always happy to see his humans and spend time with them. He is a stunning boy with great potential in the right hand of an experienced working dog handler. Freddie is definitely from the working lines and unfortunately has never been given a job or much training on how to use his amazing skills so we are seeking a new home that’s willing to bring out the best in him.
His current weight is 38 kilos
Freddie is a great dog, friendly to people and other dogs if they are friendly back to him
Freddie will be a great addition to a committed family. He is a loveable, kind fella who will become your best mate

Favorite things
Freddies favorite thing is to be around humans and have company. He is not playful with toys so people fill his cup
Walks and been out and about sniffing the daily news. Food but not treat orientated
A swim to cool off especially on warm days is a newly discovered enjoyment for him as pictures.

Human interaction
Freddie is a lover of the two legged kind. He can get a little excited when his humans get home with a lot of noise and a bit of jumping but does settle down. Fredie does not like being left alone for extended long hours so will pace around the backyard and at times has howled but that seems to be improving as he settles more into foster care. He will need time to get to know peoples routine and feel comfortable in his new home to adjust. We currently have him on hemp oil which seems to be taking the edge of some of his anxiety. He will need to have periods outside when people are home to help him transition to being alone when his humans are not home. He would do well if he could attend a doggy day care, have access into the house or have a dog walker. We are seeking a home where people are home more often than not.
He is in foster care where his carer does spend some days away from home and he is adjusting over time..
He has only shown a friendly happy exuberance to meeting people

Interaction with other dogs
Freddie has most probably not had a lot of socialization with other dogs so like any dog introduction needs to be done with caution. He is interested in saying hello to dogs as long as they are not in his face or ovally dominant. He’s had a short play date with another non dominant male and was happy to have the company but not overly playful so we feel he would potentially suit a home with a very placid female for company
Freddie has not displayed any lead reactivity like barking or lunging at dogs on walks on lead. He can pull though so will need a reasonably experienced strong handler to walk and continue his lead skills

Obedience
Freddie incredibly has not been taught the basics in training skills As is the nature of working dogs they need to have jobs to do. Freddie so far has missed out on this, so his new home will need to be committed to work with him so he can lead a happy fulfilling life. Freddie has shown great potential with a bit of training to sit, come and walk on a loose lead for short periods but he is still in very early stages of grasping these concepts but with daily commitment to this boy he should learn quickly as he is an intelligent boy eager to please
At home he will sit for food. At the park he needs a constant and confident handler as he can be strong on lead but is doing his best to learn
Independence
Freddie is learning to be more independent but this will take time in a new home. He is not one for toys but potentially can be persuaded to chew a big marrow bone or cow hooves to keep him entertained. He can do a bit of pacing which is common in this breed in under stimulated dogs
Getting his mind active with obedience training, obstacles would be something he may enjoy in the future
Exercise
Definitely needs daily exercise where he can stretch his legs and keep his mind stimulated
Freddie will need at least an hour walk a day, beach, park where he can sniff the daily news to see what happening in his community. We are seeking an active family with a moderate to large backyard
Freddie is walking on lead and can pull if he smells something good. He does get excited at the beginning of a walk but will settle into an easier walk once he has worked off the initial adrenaline rush of getting out. Currently walked on a harness
Inside the home
Freddie is not destructive inside the home and will happily lie within sight of you if you work from home
He quickly learned where he is not allowed, like the bed and couch, and has not tried again since the first week.

Hygiene and toileting
Freddie is toilet trained
He has a long coat which does shed. He is not a fan of being brushed but a gloved brush does help remove some hair

Car travel
Freddie travels very well in the back of the car, secured and able to look out the window

Food
Freddie is being fed dry food and wet prime which he enjoys
He gets a little in the morning and full serves for dinner. He has dry food available often as he only eats when hungry.

Sleeping
Freddie sleeps indoors in a sunroom on a couch. Once settled he will sleep through the night
If he is outside he likes to sleep close to the house or door so an undercover area is required
Ideal home
Freddie is seeking a patient and kind home that are willing to put regular training and obedience first,to suit his working dog needs
He will not be rehomed to a home who has not experience with working breeds as we want this boy to blossom into who he should be
A home with older children is fine. He maybe a bit to boisterous for younger kids
An active committed family
Freddie must be included inside to home with his people
A possible pal non dominant placid female dog of similar size. We do not adopt with another male
Moderate to large backyard with secure fencing
Freddie comes with a brand new Harness . Grooming glove and travel bowl
