Makiara is a big, bouncy, happy ball of sunshine who thinks she is a lapdog. She has evidently used her good looks to get away with things in the past so needs to learn how to keep all 4 paws on the ground and that humping humans is not exactly how we make friends. She is otherwise a giant smooch who craves your affection and attention.

Her playstyle is all about the paws and mouth, she does not realise her size and will bowl everyone over with her exuberance. She does not like to share high value items with other dogs (which is fair enough, nor do I) but does love some rough and tumble and getting her zoomies on as seen in the videos.

A shell pool is an absolute must have for this water baby, it also helps cool her itchy skin. We are unsure of the root cause of her itchiness and has just had her first Cytopoint injection which does seem to have helped, so these will need to be continued. We can recommend skin specialists for adopters to consult with to better help understand her condition and make her life easier.

This bootilicious wigglebum is on a diet to help with her weight loss, she arrived severely overweight and has been gradually shedding those kgs. This will need to be continued for her own long-term wellbeing.

She loves her people so much that she would not be suitable to being left without humans for extensive periods. A few hours here and there are ok though.

Makiara has proven to be dog and somewhat cat social whilst in care, she will chase the cats however and will bark at them if they show interest in her treasured treats. Interactions would need to be supervised and cats would need to have a safe dog free haven to escape to. There have been some dogs that she hasn't been overjoyed to see and may bark at them until she realises they aren't a threat.
Her bounciness is her biggest character point, she just can't contain herself and her joy just bursts out. She absolutely loves cuddles and will paw at you and climb up to snuggle in, before throwing in a cheeky hump to your leg. These behaviours need to be addressed and reduced, so please be prepared to put time, effort and consistency into her ongoing training. She is so much more than a pretty face and you will be rewarded tenfold by helping her learn to be better socially appropriate.

Makiara just loves love and will snuggle into anyone willing to give her attention.
