Peanut Brittle

Peanut Brittle is the sweetest little girl with a heart of gold.

Peanut is a 2 year old little Aussie Bulldog cross who was dumped in the pound because her family got a new puppy!!!!

At just 20 kilos this little girl is going to make someone's world complete if you are looking for a small size med loving , affectionate and perfect girl…..

We had to rescue this girl as her world had just been turned upside down, she was depressed in the pound just lying on her bed, beginning to shut down and losing weight

We are dumbfounded as to why she was dumped as she is a perfect princess. We cannot fault this girl , she has been an absolute pleasure to foster

Peanut has one of those faces. A squishy smoochy face you just want to grab and kiss and tell her how much you love her. Peanut is just a honey with big brown puppy dog eyes and a very waggy tail. She wiggles from head to toe with happiness. She is an affectionate girl who enjoys being around you and snuggling into you if you let her

She is a shy gentle girl whom we feel she hasn’t had a lot of exposure to the outside world but with daily walks she is coming out of her shell and now venturing off for lots of sniffs, getting her feet wet at the local creek and enjoying meeting new dogs and people

She can be cautious when going to new places like peoples homes and may drop to the ground, hesitant to proceed but with a little encouragement she is happy to trust you and take your lead. She soon warms up. We believe she will quickly settle into a new home with no problems

Peanut is very quiet, we haven’t heard her bark at all even when all the other woofers in the home are barking.

Favorite things

Peanut enjoys the simple things in life, pats, lots of love and following her humans around. Walking and sniffing everything has become another favorite. She is not into toys or games, most probably has never experienced the joy they can bring. She does like her 6 month old foster brother to play gently with. They lie on their mat and just have cuddles, kisses and soft mouthy play. She is only young so overtime she will blossom in her new home, being the perfect pet.

Interactions with humans

Peanut is a reserved girl who is drawn to people who are kind and gentle with her. Humans both big and small interest her. She will come up and then roll onto her back, shy and submissive but once she has meet you she becomes a ball off wiggles

She follows her foster mum around and hangs out with her whenever she can. She enjoys sitting on the couch to have pat but is not a needy girl.

She needs a family who is loving and calm as she gets overwhelmed in noisy environments and may shy away. She enjoys the company of children who are softly spoken and calm

Obedience

Peanut knows how to sit on command

She is not a jumpy girl and tries really hard to keep all four feet on the ground when excited.

She has excellent recall off lead

She knows the word bed

She displays no food aggression around other dogs

Interaction with animals

Peanut being a gentle polite girl expects the same from dogs she meets. She enjoys the company of other dogs and is currently in foster with 3 others .

She doesn't like dogs in her face as she can get scared and she will react with a growl if a dog is overly dominant but that is extremely rare. She does not play rough or do zoomies, prefers to observe others in play. There is a pup in foster care with her and she will play quietly with him on the mat. That's as rough as she gets

We feel she is suited to a home with or without dogs for company. We would be looking for a male dog with a calm demeanor.

Peanut has briefly met a cat. She was interested, curious , did not chase so we feel she would be ok with a dog savvy cat

Food

Peanut arrived to us quite underweight so we have been feeding her twice a day on savourlife dry puppy food and some wet as she dislikes just dry food. She is starting to put on weight so needs to be fed a high quality food to continue her nutritional needs. She is treat oriented and will sit, take food very gently from your hand. She loves it when her foster brother is in training as she likes to join in too just to get a treat. Cow hooves are a favorite chew

Independence

Initially when out and about on walk Peanut was quite timid and just wanted to be near you. She walks extremely well on lead with no pulling. Off lead she is just as good. Excellent recall and will not venture too far from you. She has started to enjoy getting her feet wet at the local stream and heading off for a little sniff but she keeps you in her sight. She has been exposed to trains, kids on bikes, cars , horses and does not react.

Peanut is happy to snooze the day away inside or out, you will not hear a peep out of her.

Hygiene

Peanut has a short coat, she is fond of a good brushing session When she arrived from the pound she was full of dust and enjoyed her bath and pampering session and now has a super soft coat

Her teeth and nails are well maintained

Sleeping

Peanut currently sleeps in her foster mums room in her dog bed all night. She will also be happy to share your bed if you let her. She does not need toileting overnight if you take her out before bedtime

Peanut has shown interest in a kennel for nap time

Travel

Initially Peanut was very hesitant to leave the house , get in and out the car. Now after two weeks in care she happily jumps in and out as she knows it means an outing to the park with her doggo friends. She travels very well secured in the back seat

She does have access to an open door so does let herself in and out as needed to toilet

Ideal home

A home where she will be included as part of the family and be able to spend lots of time inside

A family that is quiet and gentle, she would feel uncomfortable and intimidated with a lot of noise

Fine with gentle children whom have previous dog experience

Tested briefly with a cat so a dog savvy cat should be fine

A family who will walk her daily

Another gentle male dog for a companion but also ok as an only dog.
