PROFILE AND NEEDS IN A HOME
Cosmo is an 10 month old Whippet/Greyhound cross Bull Arab we think currently in foster care in the Randwick area of Sydney
If there was a worldwide Best Dog competition, Cosmo would win the awards for biggest smile, biggest ears, longest legs, and warmest hugs.
He is also settling in to his personality more and more every week and is the sweetest boy! He's also very talkative - not barking, but little yawns and very polite taps on your arm when he wants a pat😆
Cosmo is such a curious and intelligent puppy! He has already learnt so much in just a few short weeks with his foster carer!
Cosmo loves other dogs so his carer believes he would LOVE a home with a medium/large dog who is friendly and playful, but this is not essential.
Cosmo is working on his recall, and in fenced areas reliably stays with his carer and has great recall. We are still working on his recall when there are lots of distractions around and he's improving consistently.
He still gets so excited seeing other dogs, and really wants to play and say hi, so he is working on his loose leash walk.
He knows basic commands like sit, stay and wait.
Cosmo is house trained in his carers home. Of course your environment will be a new environment for Cosmo so you will need to set him up to succeed in this regard, advice can be given.
Cosmo loves nothing more than being with people - he has been going into the office with his foster carer and is the most polite office dog, happily snoozing through the day or chewing on one of his many toys. He would love to be an office dog in his new home, but is otherwise okay being home alone for up to 4 hours at a time provided he has been exercised and left with some mental stimulation.
He loves to sit with his carer on the couch and snuggle up. As with all of our dogs he must be permitted to sleep inside at night in a cosy area of the home and to snuggle on the couch from time to time.
Cosmo currently sleeps in the living room where he sleeps through the night.
Cosmo is a high energy dog, and requires two good walks a day and good mental stimulation at home. He will make for a wonderful running companion when his body is fully developed in about 6 months time .
Whilst he is currently in care in an apartment his foster carer believes he does need more space to explore, practice his recall, play silly games with the other doggo in the family if there is one and chew on his bones. Cosmo would therefore be best suited to a house with a yard with access inside and out at all times.
We are looking for adopters who are looking for a dog to truly be part of the family, access inside, daily adventures and exercise, mental stimulation, consistent force-free training, and of course lots of love and attention!
If you would like to meet Cosmo please send us as much detail as possible on yourself and the home you are able to provide including your location, contact number, your dog and any other pets (if any), family members, lifestyle, exercise and mental stimulation you will provide, how often Cosmo would be alone, where he will have access in the home, where Cosmo would go if you went away and could not take him with you, ability to cover vet expenses and any other information you wish to provide.
