About Jasper
JASPER is very affectionate, friendly and playful. He’s pretty easy to have around - not a barker or a jumper, but can howl for a few minutes after being left at home.
He is great with kids, but forgets how big he is and can knock over the little ones - but he isn't in any way aggressive. Active big kids would be ideal friends for him.
JASPER is good fun, and is great with other large dogs and all humans. He's still a pup, so he has lots of energy for play and is still learning new things.
He likes swimming, playing tug of war and finding sticks. He really enjoys training, as he will do anything for a treat or a pat.
JASPER is a very handsome dog. He has a lovely soft black coat and silky floppy ears. He is athletic and well muscled. He has a big grin on his face all the time.
He loves all the attention he gets, but he doesn’t understand why he can't be a lap-dog.
JASPER is a medium-large dog. When he was in the pound he was just 20kg. He's 28kgs now, and may grow to 30kg! His body hasn't caught up with his big paws yet.
Since he's been in foster care - He’s learnt to sit, wait, settle, get in his bed, and eat peacefully with other dogs.
He can jump on and off the back of the ute, tie-up in new places, and waits outside nicely. He currently sleeps in a crate inside, is fully house trained and is getting better with cats.
His best skill is walking beside you on the lead, by himself or in a small pack of dogs. He is still learning how to walk calmly in town - with all the sounds, sights and smells - he gets very excited.
He is perfect on the farm and comes when he is called. He can’t jump farm gates.
* Jasper needs a home that can provide the stimulation and training an active, sporting, Pointer breed needs to be happy and healthy. These dogs are very energetic and fun-loving, well suited to active homes.
Pointer breeds need plenty of space for vigorous and challenging play and lots of daily exercise, long walks, to keep their high energy in check. Water play is highly recommended as he really loves it.
