Hi, I’m Kenzo.
I am a highly intelligent dog who is looking for an experienced owner who will be able to provide me with a fun, loving and structured home. I can be timid in new environments, or with new people and seem to be most comfortable with females. I would be happy living in a home with males, but it just might take me some time to warm up to them.
I’d prefer a quiet and calm household, with a family who are active and will take me on nice long walks and train me in their spare time. I already know sit, and lay down, but I haven’t yet learned what pressure on the lead means, or how to be composed around other dogs. It would be best if I am walked on a slip lead and always wear a collar. Slip leads are the safest and best option for dogs like me who may spook easily.
I’d be open to meeting dog savvy children who are at least 12 years and older as they are more understanding of a dog’s behaviour. I would do best with structure and routine so I can quickly understand my boundaries and what is required of me. I may be a good candidate for crate training as I do well in the kennel at the facility compared to large open spaces.
I am starting to learn to play with toys like a real dog of my age, and my carers have discovered I love water. Whether it comes from a hose, or in a pool, it is so much fun! I promise to make you laugh everyday with my quirky and cute playfulness.
I have met other dogs at the facility and my carers think I just haven’t been around them enough to live with one yet. With more positive and slow exposure to dogs, I will probably be more comfortable. It would be beneficial to do this in a professional group training class as it is a controlled environment rather than frequenting a high-traffic dog walking area. It’s best to set us up for success!
Please come meet me and see for yourself what a delightful boy I am!
