Our endlessly joyful, bouncy, toffee-coloured goofball Malibu is now looking for her forever home. She is affectionate and playful, adventurous and confident, and like so many affectionate puppies, she is an absolute smoocher. Her coat is velvet-soft and she has the most delicate tiny white stripe from her forehead to her nose - it is very easy to waste an hour or two with this pup snuggling beside you on the couch, stroking her ears and her face and her fat little belly. With her flipper-like feet, handfuls of loose skin and distinctive big dog swagger, this young lady is going to be a whole lotta doggo when she is fully grown! She is lovely with dogs, strangers and children, and whilst she is not the pup for a first time owner, she will make a lovely addition to a wide variety of families with big dog experience.

SOCIALISATION
Malibu has been fostered in a home with three large, boisterous resident dogs and also her female litter mate. She is very respectful of the bigger dogs and reads their body language well, knowing when it’s her turn to chase and when it’s her turn to be chased (in which case she usually ducks her head and runs behind her foster mum!). She is definitely a confident and boisterous pup and if barking and chasing are the order of the day, she’s right there for it! Malibu and her litter mate have been robust and rowdy world champion wrestlers whilst they’ve been in care together - these games are instigated by Malibu as she just loves the rough and tumble of wrestling and tug of war. Any resident dog in her new home must be a well socialized, mature male dog with a similar energy level to Malibu who can continue to guide Malibu in the rules of polite dog play.
Malibu has been in foster care with three cats and behaves *reasonably* well around them. She mostly ignores them if they’re out of reach, but if they’re silly enough to stay on the ground when she walks past, they appear to begrudgingly accept that they’re going to cop a playful paw to the top of the head. Resident cats in her new home who are confident around dogs will be able to put her in her place in no time. Malibu has also been in care with children aged 11 years and older and has loved being in their company. Her 11 year old human foster brother calls her “my soul dog” because she just loves snuggling up with him on the couch, leaning against him, while he plays his XBox. Malibu is still learning how to use her manners when greeting people and dogs. She does tend to jump up in excitement when she first wakes up or when her people come home after being out - however this is easily managed by ignoring the jumping and waiting for her to work out that sitting calmly is the surefire way to get attention and pats. We would also encourage gentle pats to her chest and throat rather than head rubs which tend to make her more excited. She is a very bright dog and is improving with her bouncy behavior every day - and in a home with more time and attention to devote to reinforcing good behavior, she will quickly learn the appropriate way to behave even when she is excited. All puppies have sharp teeth but Malibu’s teeth are positively CROCODILIAN… and she proudly lives up to her puppy reputation as an “ankle biter” because if she’s feeling left out, she will use those crocodile teeth around your ankle to remind you that she would like some attention please! She will obviously grow out of this behavior with age and continued positive reinforcement, but to ensure a successful long term outcome in her new home, Malibu will only be adopted into a family where any children are aged over 10 years and who are confident around dogs, and who know not to encourage silly, excited behavior with squealing and running away.
EXERCISE AND ENRICHMENT
As a young puppy, Malibu has had limited time of the property due to vaccination status but has walked around a park on lead with another dog and did really well .She is such a devoted little follower when she walks around the acreage at her foster home, we have no doubt she will be easily leash-trained. Like all dogs, Malibu will require a walk outside of her home every day, but she is not a high energy dog and 30-60 minutes of exercise a day will be ample for her.
Malibu is everything a puppy should be and she just LOVES her toys - she is a definite power chewer and she just loves hard rubber toys that she can really get her teeth into.. Malibu is literally a “clean slate” and apart from already knowing the “sit”command, she requires training from scratch - but she is smart and eager to learn and just LOVES treats so she will be very easy to train and will make her owners super proud of her in no time.
TOILET TRAINING
Malibu is doing very well with her toilet training but she is not yet fully trained and needs regular reminders to go outside to the toilet.
EATING AND SLEEPING
As a young puppy, Malibu still needs plenty of sleep at night and a few naps during the day. Routine is also important for her as a puppy learning her place in the world. She currently sleeps in her crate overnight. She sleeps from about 10pm to 7am. Once up, she is taken to the toilet, has a play and then eats their breakfast. After breakfast, she continues playing for up to 30 minutes before being taken to the toilet and put back into her crate for a nap of two hours (enough time for their carer to clean up whatever mess they’ve made during their awake time!). The rest of the day is spent playing inside and outside, and napping on their dog bed inside before settling down for the nightThis will likely lead to some separation anxiety and possible crying at night as she settles into her new environment and new routine. Her new owners therefore need to be prepared to manage this typical puppy behavior, which will of course pass with time, love and patience.
Malibu currently eats twice a day.. It is recommended that puppies be fed on specialist puppy food for at least 12-18 months to ensure their growing bodies get all the nutrition they need.

ADOPTION CRITERIA
If I could have my wish for my new home I would love the following
Children - I would love to have some children if possible who are gentle and kind and loving but mature enure to know I need lots of un interrupted nap time while of grow and who won't drop me so over 10 would be nice
We recommend children in the home to have prior dog / puppy exposure before your family applies for a young puppy s puppies teeth and have sharp little teeth
I would love a secure backyard that has grass for me to play in with shelter and shade and room for me to run so no little units or tiny terrace yards
I would be fine with cats as Im living with them now
I would love a BFF doggy friend if possible that is a MALE and of medium size and up who is kind and loving and would be ok with the usual puppy chewing and playful behavior. .She must be desexed and well socialized with other dogs
I would love a home that my new family are willing to train me and not just have me as a back yard ornament and who will treat me as a part of the family
A home with a family that have dog experience is essential as puppies are hard work and require lots of time and devotion to ensure they become the best dogs they can be
