A gentle, kind and loving girl, Miss Roxy is playful and full of joy. She will greet you with a wiggly tail and leaps of excitement when you get home and soon smother you in kisses and be leaning into you for hugs and company shortly after. She loves to be a part of the family and will give a little nudge with her paw to say hello or show off her latest toy to you.
Miss Roxy can sometimes be a little shy meeting new people, however with patience and a soft approach, she will soon become your loyal best friend. Miss Roxy loves to run and play just as much as she likes to sleep and relax. The jingle of her lead will get her excited and she will gladly come for a drive or walk – she loves to be a part of the action with you. Although inquisitive and showing signs of enjoying other dogs’ company, she is yet to experience off leash dog parks or beaches.
Miss Roxy will play fetch and almost always brings the ball back (or close to it). She likes to play tug-of-war, chew sticks, and snuggle with soft toys. She also really enjoys snuffle blankets - a long towel or cloth rolled with treats between layers. She will spend a long time trying to unravel and chew her way in to retrieve the treats – she can easily entertain herself for a long time with enrichment and puzzles.
Being a quick learner and eager to please, Miss Roxy knows ‘Sit-Stay’, ‘Shake’, ‘On your bed’ (usually given when a guest is at the door, and she waits for to be released to greet them). She will wait for dinner. She also knows ‘Outside’, ‘Off’ and ‘NO’ and is completely toilet trained. She is very food motivated - cheese and dried fish treats are her favourite treats.
Miss Roxy is very affectionate and gentle towards children and will gladly sit with them or approach them for cuddles and kisses. Roxy is not scared of storms or alarmed by most noises, laughing, toys or running about the house. She can sometimes be cautious when meeting new people and may require a gentle approach to allow her to warm up before she will smother them in affection.
Miss Roxy currently lives with a similar sized female dog. They play, tumble and bark in a normal playful dynamic. Whilst they sometimes push in line for pats, they typically co-exist well and show affection towards each other with no guarding behaviours shown.
Being a young dog, Miss Roxy is still curious and enjoys playful behaviours, she will bark to advise when someone is approaching the home, but otherwise is quiet and a wonderful companion and addition to the family.
Miss Roxy's ideal family would be a loving, active family with some experience with training, and assertiveness to take charge of a medium/large dog who would benefit from ongoing training. A family who can involve Miss Roxy in their daily routine would be ideal, however she can be left home unsupervised, ideally, a home with a similarly natured dog would also offer her company and a playmate.
