Lochie is looking for his pawfect family

Meet Lochie, our handsome, affectionate and enthusiastic 4 yr. old light brindle boy. Lochie is very loving and social and enjoys the company of adults, kids and other greyhounds. For a grey he is high energy and is always keen for a walk, an outing or a trip in the car. If there is something happening, he loves to be included in whatever is going.

He loves the park and the beach and with encouragement will swim freely off his feet or just wade in the shallows. He is easy going and has a warm and affectionate personality and is very interactive with his family. He is low maintenance and is a dream to care for with a good appetite for food and is fully toilet trained. He does not bark, or growl and does not show any signs of sleep startle or resource guarding however he does sometimes save and guard food and treats.

He is just a big happy boy who wants above all else to be loved and cared for as part of a family. He would do well with the right K9 friend but could still thrive as a single pet.
Lochie does well being left alone and exhibits no anxiety in this circumstance and is happy to sleep and rest until his family returns. At the end of the day when the family comes together he loves to cuddle and be spoilt with treats and lots of affection including pats, massages and tummy rubs.

Lochie had a long racing career but fortunately he came through unscaved without major injury. Due to no fault of his own Lochie arrived with an enhanced Prey-drive and will continue to need to wear a muzzle when in public in the event of other dogs coming into his space. He is a quick learner and is adapting well to life away from racing. He shows continuing improvement in his K9 social interactions either ignoring or being more gentle in his approach and play. He is a work in progress but is rapidly learning how to navigate his new world beyond the track.

Lochie is doing well in foster care with his sister Saffi (he loves other greys) and is learning from Saffi to play and thrive in a very different world to the one he once knew.
Lochie would do best in an environment that has the energy for regular walks and outings and who can teach him how to play and be the happiest dog he can be. Ideally a K9 companion would suit Lochie well but more importantly your love and attention will bring out the best in this gorgeous gentle boy.

Lochie’s needs:
🐾 Experienced greyhound owner - long-term training required.
🐾 Family that will meet his high energy - regular walks + play time
🐾 Muzzle required at all times in public
🐾 Space to play - a backyard is ideal
🐾 Suitable with other large dogs
🐾 No separation anxiety, not destructive when left, and very well-mannered in the home.
🐾 Small dogs at a distance
🐾 No Cats or small dogs in the household
