About Harold
Harold ( not Harry please ) is a dapper young man. He is loving his life in fostercare, loves the walks, the cuddles and to hang out with his humans.
Harold has the most happy attitude, and relishes the affection he gets from all the humans he meets on his walks. He has very quickly become on a first name basis with several neighbours. He has quickly learnt to smile and lean in for a pat and cuddle. He is hard to resist.
Harold looks forward to his walks before and after his human goes to work. During the day he just snoozes with his foster brother, another young male grey. His foster dad checks the inside cameras while he is at work to see what the boys are up to. Not much, sometimes it says “no activity for 4 hours”
When he gets home from work its a completely different story. Harold is a cyclone of joy and love, so excited you are home. He can be very bouncy and you need to manage his enthusiasm for a little while until he calms down. You also need to watch out for that helicopter tail that can give you a bit of a whack. Then you can head out for his afternoon walk. Harolds face lights up in joy.
Harold’s walks are more of an amble. You wont improve your aerobic fitness as there are too many people to say hello to, too many open gates to investigate. Harold is getting relaxed meeting other dogs. He is inquisitive and friendly, just doesn’t understand barking dogs. Why aren’t they just happy to meet you like he and his foster brother are ?
In the house, Harold is a breeze. Toilet trained from day one but this is with 24/7 access to the yard, so he may take some adjustment in a new home. Harold sleeps on his bed in the study during the day. At night he sleeps on his own bed in the human bedroom. Harold is very keen to watch you cooking in the kitchen but hasn’t souvenired the lamb roast yet. He will offer to finish off his foster brother's dinner if possible but there have been no issues.
Harold is the best companion on the couch for some quiet time. Like most boys he loves physical contact. He will spoon you quite contentedly but if you get up, he must get up too and follow you wherever you go including the bathroom, just in case you get lonely. He will also keep you company in the yard, happy to remain attached to your hip for a cuddle while you water the plants.
Harold loves the car and jumps in like an athlete. He settles very quickly. Harold loves being out and about on visits to family and friends. Not too bothered by busy areas or traffic. He has already been a star at three Gumtree Greys events.
Harold is an easy boy who would love to be in a home with another suitable hound. He doesn’t need a massive yard but will insist on his walks and family activities. As he can be supper bouncy when excited, he wont be suitable for very young children or frail oldies, although he will be very patient and gentle for visiting children and Grandma.
No cats or pocket pets.
No full time workers unless some working from home or there is another dog
No children under six

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
