Rosco is an affectionate and playful fellow searching for a gentle and patient forever family that can offer a quiet home with lots of love.
Rosco is a typical quirky working dog who enjoys chasing shadows and reflections, barking at loud motor vehicles and rounding up the lawnmower. He gets anxious during storms and with loud, sudden or unfamiliar noises. He can also get a bit worried about his footing when walking on surfaces that can be slippery. He is alway up for a chat when you arrive home from some time away and will also give you a bit of cheek when he is impatient or frustrated.
Rosco loves to play tug of war and chase his footy with his humans in the back yard. He also enjoys going along on his humans car rides and exploring the new places they take him. Rosco is always excited for a walk, but enjoys easy short walks because too much activity can flare up his arthritis. Typical signs that his arthritis is bothering him is if he starts to limp or has trouble getting up from laying positions, this is easily released with a couple of doses of medication that Forever Friends Latrobe will provide further information on.
Rosco is toilet trained and has learnt to use the dog door to let himself in and out when needed. He currently sleeps inside on his bed or the floor, or can sleep outside when required.
He is very well behaved inside so is allowed to come and go through the dog door during the day while his humans are at work. Rosco does need to have toys, activities or food based games when alone to keep him stimulated so he doesn’t turn to behaviours such as digging.
He relishes human company and likes to be in your presence wherever you are inside or out of the house, laying by your side or intensely watching what you are doing.
Rosco is always friendly when meeting new humans. He can be a bit nervous around other dogs, some he can be reactive to specially if they are reactive towards him, so he will need someone confident and comforting around when meeting new dogs.
Rosco is looking for a quiet household with a family that has time and patience to deal with his anxieties alongside him. He would also love a family that will make the time to play and take him for short walks every so often. He tends to be quite anxious around young children, so would be best in a family with older gentle children that can understand his boundaries and be empathetic in regards to his anxieties.
