About Chilli Bean
AVAILABLE NOW 👀
Introducing our ultra-gentle, super smoochy, ever so sweet blind/vision impaired girl, Chill Bean!
It's impossible not to fall in love with this adorable lady. ❤️
*Pics do not do her justice. She's such a pretty girl with blue/grey and cream hues in her coat plus lovely green eyes. She can't look at the camera and spent the whole time trying to smooch it!*
Chilli Bean came into our care a few months ago with her kittens and another cat, from a home that had a bit of a hoarding problem with many cats living there in poor conditions.
They all had ringworm and cat flu and fleas and were skinny and scrawny things.
It took a while but all of Chilli Beans' kittens grew healthy and the last two were adopted just a few weeks ago.
Although her kittens were only about 3 months old, Chilli Bean was pregnant once again when she came into care. Sadly, the stress of it all and her poor health caused her to lose her kittens in miscarriage 😥
We think she's probably had other kittens before and could be 5-6 years old.
This lady deserves the most wonderful, cosy home to be pampered for the rest of her days after living a very challenging life.
Chilli Bean is partially blind. What's super sweet is that she will know that there's someone standing nearby and try to approach for a pat. She doesn't quite know where you are but will bump into your leg and then go ""oh great! Now I've found this I can rub all over it!"" 😍😍
Vets suspect that her mum had feline herpes virus during pregnancy and that Chilli Bean's retinal insufficiency is caused by this. She may experience progressive vision loss over the rest of her life, but she's not in any pain and doesn't seem distressed.
She must be indoors only so she can be safe in a familiar environment.
But when she knows her way around, her quality of life isn't affected by her reduced vision.
She's not confident about jumping on or off of things so may need some extra help but at least she won't get up on your kitchen benches!!
Chilli Bean is very comfortable around other cats and is fine with friendly dogs. She's got a very non-threatening demeanor and I think will easily slot into most homes where she will just be lavished with love.
She's also just as friendly and gentle with young kids as she is with adults.
Chilli Bean has just been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated so she's ready for adoption right away and we don't think she should have to wait another day!
So please, if you can adopt her - message the page or email avonvalley@safe.org.au
And if you can't, please SHARE!
*Chilli Bean does sometimes experience some conjunctivitis. She seems to forget to clean her face/eyes, perhaps because she can't see that they need wiping?
She has ointment to use when required and will benefit from occasional wiping of her eyes.
