QLD - Bruce (m/18 months) Needs a very special Carer with View of Adoption

Remember Jasper? Well since a name change Jasper is now Bruce.....

This sweet boy has definitely not had the best start in life....
As previously stated on his original post, his first owner was a drug addict and after an overdose, Bruce sat next to the body until it was found...from there he went to the pound.

A local rescue took him on, but it turned out that Bruce had far too much energy for their foster carer, who was only used to small dogs, so we were approached for help...how could we possibly say no?

Bruce was placed in foster care and had surgery for his cherry eyes (it is basically a cosmetic condition where the gland of the 3rd eyelid prolapses)...unfortunately the surgery isn't always successful and in Bruce's case it only worked on one side.

Recently he had a severe allergic reaction and the successful side popped out again. This poor boy is not having much luck!!

However. This is not Bruce's main concern. His concern is that Bruce suffers from something we do not often see in Boxers, he suffers from a luxating patella meaning his kneecap keeps popping out. We were made aware of this condition late October last year and the vet said it was not urgent, but eventually he would need specialist surgery.

Initially, we were trying to find a foster carer who would be prepared to go through the post-OP aftercare - basically keeping him quiet for a few weeks - and we found one! They could not take Bruce before Christmas though due to travel commitments.

All fine, but,.... since then there was delay and further delay when we checked again earlier this week we were told there is another 4 weeks delay!!

In the meantime Bruce's patella is constantly popping in and out which cannot be good for the joint and we really need to get that surgery done rather sooner than later to make sure it will be a success.

Although Bruce is good with dogs, obviously strict rest after surgery is a must and for that reason only we need a foster carer with no other animals as he would be too tempted to play and be silly.

We are looking for someone who is around quite a bit of the time to make sure Bruce is doing fine during the day as he cannot be locked in a cage while people go to work.

Once he is recovered, if all goes well as usual our foster carer will have the choice of adoption, this lovely boy just needs someone to help him over a few weeks to get there.
