About Jack
Old dogs are the best. And old red dogs, like Jack, are exceptional.
At 10 years of age, he's getting a bit cloudy-eyed, he's not as quick off the mark as he used to be and maybe his hearing has failed a little, but to anyone who's ever known an old dog, these flaws are of no consequence.
Jack is a canine gentleman. He's well-mannered, rarely barks, and trots along on a lead in a calm and peaceful way. He greatly enjoys human company and is friendly to everyone he meets. He loves car rides, especially if a puppacino at the coffee shop is involved.
It's not lost on Jack that he was dumped at the pound with a growth on his lower eyelid - see the last photo in the profile - and is now healthy, happy and much loved in his foster home. He shows massive gratitude and limitless trust - and being a dog, he's not pretending.
He's still a funny boy in unexpected ways. As smart as new paint, Jack has a wicked smile that he flashes at his foster mum whenever he's being clever and cute. If she calls him at the front door, he might just go to the back door and wait for her to catch sight of him, tail wagging, wicked smile in place. She calls him "Jack the Lad" because this boy is not short of personality.
Jack doesn't like cats, but is dog-friendly. He had no trouble forging a good relationship with the resident hound at his foster home. He doesn't feel the need to be boss dog, but don't ask him to share his food bowl.
We're looking for a home for Jack where he can be the constant companion of his favourite human. He'd be a delight in a dog-friendly workplace or in the home of a retiree or a home-based worker. He thrives on human companionship but he's not a dog that gets in your way. He's very definitely an inside-outside dog, is house-trained, and has demonstrated to his foster mum that his favourite place at night is very close to her.
If you are interested in meeting Jack and can offer him a suitable, safe and loving forever home, PLEASE COMPLETE THE ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
Jack's adoption fee is $150. He is desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
