Medical Notes - Dory has some scarring and adhesions of her corneas. She has reduced vision in both eyes however she currently doesn't need any ongoing treatment or medications for this.
Our gorgeous Dory came into care with her mother and siblings when she was only 4 weeks old. She was born in the bush, and her mother was unsocialised. Dory's litter came into care with Neonatal Opthalmia (a bacterial infection in her eyes). Despite our best efforts and treatment, Dory was left with some permanent damage to both of her corneas.
Although Dory has reduced vision, she is still an incredibly happy and playful young girl. She jumps, climbs, and plays just like any other kitty.
Here is a note from Dory's foster carer below.
"We have found Dory to be very smoochy and affectionate, she meows at me for pats as soon as I get up in the morning, and has warmed up to head pats and chin scratches despite not being able to see my hand coming at her very well. She is very tolerant of other cats, she would enjoy another kitty for company. She follows mine around and he shows her lots of naughty hangout spots. Dory has grown much more confident with our dog (he’s 9y old and very calm though). She loves her food and even helped herself to an egg pie off the bench the other day and shared it with the dog 🥲 She has been great with my nieces and nephews who are pretty loud, she didn’t hide away and even came out for pats and plays. She is so adaptable and doesn’t seem stressed by having guests over, or kids, or other pets.
Please get in touch if you would like to arrange a meet and greet with our gorgeous Dory. ❤️

Adoption details
If you would like to know more information about any of our rescue animals, our rescue group, or to arrange a meet and greet, please email us. Please provide us with your name, email address, contact number, and some information about yourself, and the home you have to offer one of our rescue animals.
About us:
Gary and the Handicats Rescue is run soley by a Vet Nurse who works shift work and also cares for sick and high needs rescue animals. We strive to get back to you within 24 hours, but during busy kitten seasons there may be a delay. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please note we do not run on a "first in first served" basis. We screen applicants well before proceeding with adoption. Vet and rental references may be required for certain special needs adoptions.
We receive a large amount of interest in our handraised kittens, and certain special needs animals. Please understand that if you're application isn't successful, this may just be due to the amount of applications we have had for that particular animal, and not because of the home you have to offer. Preference is always given to our past adopters.
Meet and Greets:
• Meet and greets are held in an environment where the particular cat or kitten feels most comfortable.
• Please do not bring your own animals to a meet and greet.
• We do not allow any of our animals to be taken home on the day of the meet and greet. Special circumstances may be considered.
Picking up you're new family member:
• You MUST bring a safe, secure, and size appropriate carrier for your baby to travel home in. We do not have carriers to provide new adopters, and we will not send home one of our rescue animals in a cardboard box or a washing basket. If a carrier isn't able to be provided, your adoption will be cancelled.
