Arizona

Gorgeous Arizona is quite possibly the most well mannered and inoffensive little pup who has ever been in foster care with us. She is fun and playful, but also calm and cuddly - her favorite place to be is sprawled across a warm lap, gazing up at you adoringly. She is also friendly and very submissive to all dogs she has met. With her short, smooth white coat (apart from a single tan splodge at the base of her tail), she will make a very easy-care companion - a perfect cuddle bunny for anyone looking for a devoted friend to take on adventures before snuggling down for the night with.

At just 10 kilos this sweet little Staffy x l should grow to a standard med size girl at full growth

SOCIALISATION

Arizona has been fostered in a home with three large, boisterous resident dogs and also her female litter mate. She is very respectful of the bigger dogs and reads their body language well. If she’s looking to play with the bigger dogs, she will sidle up to them all wriggly and hopeful, asking very politely to hang out with them. In contrast, Arizona and her litter mate have been robust and rowdy world champion wrestlers whilst they’ve been in care together - although these games are instigated by her litter mate and Arizona much prefers the gentle play of carrying a tennis ball or a rope around with her friends.

Arizona has been in foster care with three cats and generally behaves well around them. She loves them much more than they love her - she shows her joy at seeing them by yapping at them and bouncing around in excitement. Resident cats in her new home who are confident around dogs will be able to put her in her place in no time. Arizona has also been in care with children aged 10 years and older and has loved being in their company. Her 17 year old human foster sister calls her “my little chihuahua” because she just loves being carried around and snuggled - this won’t last long though because she’s growing bigger every day! She would make a lovely dog for a family with children aged 8 years or older, provided that everyone understands that she is still a young puppy who will exhibit typical young puppy behavior

EXERCISE AND ENRICHMENT

As a young puppy, Arizona has not been taken outside the boundary of her foster home and has not yet learned to walk on a lead. However she is such a devoted little follower when she walks around the acreage at her foster home, we have no doubt she will be easily leash-trained. Like all dogs, Arizona will require a walk outside of her home every day, but she is not a high energy dog and 30-60 minutes of exercise a day will be ample for her.

Arizona is everything a puppy should be and just loves her toys - but if there are no toys to play with, she will happily find and chew on anything nearby that happens to take her fancy. This includes shoes, socks, electrical cords and furniture - adorably, on one occasion she even brought her foster mum a leaf from the garden which she carried proudly in her mouth, showing it off like it was the best treasure in the whole world. Her new family needs to be prepared to “puppy-proof” their home to ensure she doesn’t get herself into serious trouble doing the things that puppies do. Arizona is literally a “clean slate” and apart from already knowing the “sit”command, she requires training from scratch - but she is smart and eager to learn and just LOVES treats so she will be very easy to train and will make her owners super proud of her in no time.

TOILET TRAINING

Arizona is doing very well with her toilet training but she is not yet fully trained and needs regular reminders to go outside to the toilet.

EATING AND SLEEPING

As a young puppy, Arizona still needs plenty of sleep at night and a few naps during the day. Routine is also important for her as a puppy learning her place in the world. She currently sleeps in her crate overnight with her litter mate and they are both happy to go to bed in their crate without any crying or whining. They sleep from about 10pm to 7am. Once up, they are taken to the toilet, have a play and then eat their breakfast. After breakfast, they continue playing for up to 30 minutes before being taken to the toilet and put back in their crate for a nap of two hours The rest of the day is spent playing inside and outside, and napping on their dog bed inside before settling down for the night in their crate.

Arizona currently eats twice a day of a premium quality dry puppy kibble

CAR TRAVEL

Arizona shows no sign of being affected by travel sickness.

IDEAL HOME

Arizona would make a truly lovely addition to a wide range of families, whether they are looking for a companion for an existing dog or a loyal best mate for a single person or couple. Any existing dog must be male - we do not adopt to same-sex dogs. She would also thrive as a single dog with all attention devoted to her. Arizona loves children, and so a family with gentle children aged over 8 years is welcome to apply. Arizona is much loved and treasured by her foster carers and only the best home will be chosen for her.

ADOPTION CRITERIA

If I could have my wish for my new home I would love the following

Children - I would love to have some children if possible who are gentle and kind and loving but mature enure to know I need lots of un interrupted nap time while of grow and who won't drop me so over 8 would be nice

We recommend children in the home to have prior dog / puppy exposure before your family applies for a young puppy s puppies teeth and have sharp little teeth

I would love a secure backyard that has grass for me to play in with shelter and shade and room for me to run so no little units or tiny terrace yards

I would be fine with cats as Im living with them now

I would love a BFF doggy friend if possible that is a MALE and of medium size and up who is kind and loving and would be ok with the usual puppy chewing and playful behavior He must be desexed and well socialized with other dogs

I would love a home that my new family are willing to train me and not just have me as a back yard ornament and who will treat me as a part of the family

A home with a family that have dog experience is essential as puppies are hard work and require lots of time and devotion to ensure they become the best dogs they can be
