Sweet Sharra shows her Staffy colours in her people-pleasing and dog friendly nature. This girl loves running around and having fun with other dogs. She also loves to sit on the couch watching television, giving and receiving cuddles, and having a good game of tug with her people.
Sharra is house trained and will happily take herself out to toilet when given the chance. She has some basic obedience training and is also crate trained and sleeps well through the night. Sharra has lived very happily with other dogs, from whom she takes cues about the ways of the human world. When out and about, she is friendly with all the dogs she meets, but also happy to move on and do her own thing. Sharra is okay on lead but does prefer off leash walks and is good at dog parks, demonstrating solid recall with her people once a bond is established. She has not been tested with cats.
Sharra had a pretty rough start, which limited her early world. As a result, she is somewhat hesitant with new experiences and can be fearful around passing people and with neighbourhood sounds and sudden movements, particularly when it is getting dark. These are signs of limited socialisation and Sharra will benefit from ongoing rewards-based guidance from her people to desensitise her fears and show her how great the world is. Sharra came into care with an untended leg deformity, which has now been surgically corrected and is responding really well to rehab.
Sharra is best suited to a calm adult only home, with people who appreciate the joys of Staffy stewardship, and a friendly and mature resident canine pal. She is a lovely dog with great foundations and, in the right home, she will blossom. Are you ready to share your world with Sharra?
Thank you to Christopher of Christopher Fotobooks for the fantastic photos of Sharra.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
Health: Sharra has had two operations on her once deformed leg, lots of rehab, and is bouncing back. We will give her time and then check to see if her hernia and strangely angled tooth need operating on.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. We look forward to receiving your application.
