Little Elmo

Our beautiful Elmo is now available for adoption and seeking his FURever home.

Elmo is a Smithfield x and what an absolute stunner he is!

At just 21 kilos this little shaggy dud is a simply adorable med size

How can you resist those gorgeous green eyes and wispy coats! Don't let his scruffy hair fool you, his coat is actually quite soft!!

He's a quirky little boy with loads of personality and has a lot of love to give his new family.

He's a very social boy and he loves everyone he meets, always wanting to say hello to everyone passing by, and I mean absolutely everyone.

Elmo is full of energy, he loves to chase the kids around the house but is also happy being a couch potato with his foster family when he is done with playtime.

We have introduced toys but he hasn't quite figured out what joy they can bring just yet- but he's learning slowly!!

Elmo loves the attention of his humans and will easily bond with his new family with cuddles or over some fun activities.

He will thrive in a mature household with children over the age of ten or with big dog experience and would benefit from having an owner who is hands-on and looking for a dog that they can do self managed or professional training with as he is still in his puppy stage of life and can be a jumpy boy,

Elmo is food driven and has proven to his foster family he is not just a pretty face, he is actually quite intelligent and picking up the basic commands quite quickly.

We are seeking a loving and dedicated family who will treat Elmo as a family member, continue with his training and include him in the family adventures.

He’s the most beautiful boy and he's stealing hearts wherever he goes!

Elmo is fully toilet trained when he has access to outside with only one accident indoors overnight as foster Mum forgot to leave the door open for him.

Favorite things

Elmo’s favorite thing is definitely food but he also loves his walks and being around his humans just as much. Floofy man was very underweight when he first arrived but with some time and quality food he has plumped up to a healthy weight.

Hard chew toys are also starting to become a new favorite of little Elmos.

Interactions with humans.

Elmo loves everyone he meets and he hasn't had a problem with anyone.

Like most dogs he will bark at strangers walking past the house, but as soon as you open the door he's all tail wags, ready to say hello!

Obedience and training.

Elmo is a pup therefore ongoing training is a must to help him be the best he can be!

He has proven to be very intelligent, he picked up touch, sit, and shake very quickly.

Training him on a lead seems to works best , less distractions allowing him to focus on foster Mums commands

We have quickly learnt not to leave food unattended around him as he is a foody and will do anything to have a snack.

During his vet nail clipping session he sat like a trooper and handed his paws over to be trimmed… such a good boy !

Despite some of Elmo’s cheeky behaviours he's actually proven to be non-destructive.

Animal social skills.

Elmo is good with other dogs, he's happy to sniff and say hello.

He can be a bit shy with the first meet but once he's comfortable he doesn't want to leave.

He has no reaction to other dogs barking at him.

He hasn't been tested with cats so best to NOT adopt him to a cat home just in case

Food

Elmo loves, loves, loves food!

Human food does upset his tummy, so we limit what we give him.

He does love his #Savourlife dry food and regular treats.

Independence.

Whilst Elmo's foster carers are at work he is left home alone outside

With sufficient stimulation like dog toys or long lasting treats and protection from the elements he is a good boy while we aren't home and not been destructive.

Bath and hygiene.

Elmo is not a fan of baths, they are pretty much the worst thing ever in his eyes!

So bathing only as required is best but a regular groom is important due to his shaggy coat.

Sleeping.

Elmo is an easy going boy and will sleep in or outside, he pretty much sleeps from 10pm to 7-8 am.

If he is left outside he will let you know it's time to rise an shine with a little bark

Exercise.

Elmo loves his walks!! He's a very good boy on a lead. Short walks of 20-30 minutes seem to keep him satisfied but he would definitely go for longer if you wanted him too

Ideal home.

Our ideal home for Elmo will be someone who's committed to ongoing training to make sure he's the best boy he can be.

Elmo would love a home with an individual, couple or family with older kids 10+ with dog experience, as he can display jumpy, pawy behavior

We will consider applications both with and without another dog, the resident dog must be of female sex , desexed and well socialized.

Daily walks and socialization.

A medium to large backyard with grass and protection from the elements, shade and shelter and obviously secure fences

Most importantly a loving and responsible home.

Little Elmo comes with a brand new collar and Lead with thanks to #Fuzyard and a Zenify grooming glove and large travel bowl
