About Doug
Doug is a 2-year-old groodle with a lot of energy and a high strung personality. As a typical poodle, Doug is highly intelligent but also quite anxious and in need of training and confidence building.
He will mouth show his teeth if he's frightened but as his confidence is building this behaviour isn't being shown anymore. That being said he will need continual confidence building and guidance. He's a great dog just needs the right home to help him.
If you are considering taking Doug in as your pet, it's important to understand that he needs someone who is willing to give him time to settle in. This may take up to 2 weeks before Doug begins to trust you and feel comfortable in his new environment. It's important to remember that Doug is not suitable for boisterous dogs and is not a dog for dog parks. But saying this he would love a playful dog who will let him be himself.
Doug is tall like a standard poodle but very skinny because he's on the move all the time. He needs someone to show him what it's like to relax and enjoy down time inside too.
Despite his high strung personality, Doug is doing great with the training that has been started, such as heeling and sitting. This is a testament to his eagerness to learn and his willingness to please his owner.
It's important to remember that Doug needs to be desensitized to dog grooming and vet visits, as he may feel anxious or frightened in these situations. Socialization and obedience training will be hugely beneficial for Doug, as they will help him build confidence and become more comfortable in new environments.
Once Doug trusts you, he is a big cuddly teddy bear with a big heart. He loves affection and will show you his love by cuddling with you and being your faithful companion.
Doug is a special dog who requires a special owner who is willing to invest time and energy into training and socializing him. With patience, love, and training, Doug has the potential to become a loyal and loving pet for years to come.
