Hi, I’m Cletus.
I’m looking for a home with a family who have owned dogs in the past who have some special behaviour and medical needs. I am very wary of new people, especially men. It takes me a little while to warm up and I like to observe humans from afar before they interact with me. Once I trust you, I don’t mind some head scratches but I’m not overly affectionate yet. That will probably come in time!
Due to my floppy, large ears, I am prone to ear infections. I am currently being treated with daily ear cleans and anti-biotics to help clear that up. My new owners will have to check inside my ears regularly and be aware that there may be more frequent vet visits (compared to my smaller eared friends) to have them looked at by a professional.
I’m love a home that is generally calm and quiet, as this is going to give me the best chance at decompressing and learning to trust in my new home. I would be open to meet children who’re 10 years and over, who are dog savvy. I probably haven’t been inside a house before so please have patience with while I learn the new routine and boundaries.
I have met other dogs at the facility and have shown a lot of interest in them. I seem to be pretty social so if you have other well-mannered dogs at home, bring them in to meet me so we can get to know each other. A small to medium yard should be okay for me if I’m the only dog at home, however a bit more space would be ideal if there are two of us. Fencing should be high and fully secured to always keep me safe.
I haven’t learned how to play with toys yet, but I would like to try. Walking on lead is a new thing for me so I would require further training on this before going out into busy areas. Short, quiet walks would be best for me at first while I build my confidence in new environments and on the lead.
I know I would make a great best friend for someone, so apply below to come meet me!
