About Rex
****************************PLEASE APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ****************************
Rex is a stunning 14-month-old Sable German Shepherd who is finally ready to find his forever home.
Rex has been in foster care for the past few months, we were investigating and seeking specialist opinions on his hip dysplasia. Rex has been diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia, luckily, it is not nearly as bad as initially thought and Rex does not need surgery, he is not in pain in his day to day life and can be managed quite easily as he matures by keeping him lean and to low impact exercise.
Before Rex arrived in our care, he had zero training or boundaries; he is a boisterous pup that needs to be given guidance by his new humans and shown lots of patience and understanding, it is not his fault that he has been ignored in a backyard for most of his life.
Rex is very food motivated and enjoys engaging with his people to learn new things, his new owner will need to be committed to his ongoing training so that he can learn some manners. Rex has been working with trainers to develop his skills and is making great progress, he is a project dog for someone that has the time and dedication to invest into him. Rex would benefit from attending group obedience sessions and will need an owner who has experience with strong dogs… he likes to pull on lead and will need to work on this in his new home.
Despite his sheltered life, Rex is very sweet and friendly! Rex is a complete snuggle bug and goofball who loves meeting new people, he loves pats and will bring his toys to humans so that they will play with him. Rex will follow you around the house and wants to be with his humans doing whatever you are doing, leaning into your legs for a cuddle whether you like it or not! Rex is still a boisterous pup that can be quite mouthy at times, he would be suited to a home where everyone is over the age of 12 years old.
Rex has previously lacked manners and social skills when meeting other dogs, he can be over exuberant and play a little too rough at times. Rex has been doing a great job in foster care meeting other dogs and practicing calm behaviour around them. Due to Rex playing very rough, it is not recommended he lives with another dog due to the high impact nature of play, Rex would love to have dog friends that he interacts with, however constant wrestling and boisterous play that comes with living with another dog needs to be avoided. Rex needs to be the only dog in his new home, he hasn’t been tested with cats or other small animals.
Rex will need to be given plenty of mental enrichment in the way of ongoing training, puzzles and games. For now, Rex needs to be kept to smaller walks each day and to build up his stamina, he would love to go swimming, and this would be ideal to keep his muscles strong and limit pressure on his hips. Rex will also need to be kept lean throughout his life.
Rex is a big sweetheart with the best personality who is craving human attention and affection, he wants what every dog deserves, a home of his own that loves him unconditionally.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
