About Bowie
Bowie is a stunning young American Staffordshire Terrier with a very friendly and gentle personality.
Bowie loves spending time with people, following them around no matter what they are doing! He loves sitting at you feet, or sitting on you lap and having a cuddle. He's still got some puppy traits , Bowie will be the perfect fit for any family looking for an affectionate and loyal companion who is eager to learn and please. He is good with children who know how to behave around dogs. He is a bit clumsy when excited, so younger children may need extra supervision.
Most of all, Bowie needs lots of love and kindness, which he will give you back in spades.
He loves meeting new people. He has a few commands under his belt such as 'sit, stay, wait', but he may have to think about it for a couple of seconds, depending on his mood.
Bowie is well-behaved on walks, staying by your side. He walks well on a haltie or a slip lead, but he will need a confident owner, as he can he needs guidance and leadership to enable him to walk calmly when he passes another dog. He is currently in training to correct this behavior.
He is currently under the guidance of James from The Canine Revolution, at his board and train facility. This training package also include Post Immersive training; This includes three training sessions, these can be in person, on line and/or phone support.
Bowie is toilet trained, but he does like to be accompanied outside when it is dark.
Bowie gives the best doggie welcome, with the biggest wagging and twerking routine that would put many Hip-Hop artists to shame. He loves to check out your bags, to check if you've bought him any treats, or he may just be nosy.
Bowie is not destructive, but does like to rip up his cuddly toys and make snowstorms. He loves chew toys, especially squeaky ones and will play independently. He knows what is his though, and we haven't had any Human items being chewed. He does like to do a bit of "gardening" sometimes, with the odd hole being dug in which he likes to bury his bones. He also loves to eat fresh compost, so if you have a pristine garden, watch out. He loves to do a good Zoomie too, which gives the grass a good aerating.
Bowie loves a good play, especially "Tug", but be warned, he's a strong boy and if you wear glasses, he can shake so hard that they may fall off! Playing only lasts a few minutes though, he soon gets distracted. It is easy to tell it is play time, he will wind you up until he's had a play.
Bowie is very patient when being fed and waits until he is released to eat. He's not the slightest bit defensive with his food or toys. He will take treats from your hand very gently.
Bowie can bark in new surroundings, not excessively, but in general he only barks appropriately, once he's settled in.
Bowie doesn't bolt through an open door to run away.
Bowie can be sensitive to loud noises, especially if something drops onto the floor, it can make him jump.
Bowie loves to spend lots of time lying in a sunny spot outside.
Bowie is reactive to Cats and Dogs, and also loves to chase any Birds that come into the garden. Ideally he's have a home with no other pets.
Bowie is very good at not getting on the furniture on his own.
If you would like a very loveable and loving companion pet in your life, with most of the hard work and training already done, Bowie is the boy for you.
Medical notes
Bowie will need someone home for some of the day, and a patient and confident owner to help him to become the confident dog we know he can be.
