About Estelle
Meet Estelle,
Estelle is the sweetest little girl. She has come along in absolute strides since she arrived in foster care from the streets. When she first arrived she was so scared she wouldn’t even lay down to sleep. She was so used to being on alert all the time to protect herself and understandably so as she was heavily pregnant.
She was so scared she didn’t want to interact. Her carer would sit on the floor with her to get her used to the idea of having people around. Slowly they moved to patting her with a cloth on a stick she hated it at first but soon she learnt how good chin scratches are.
Slowly her carers took the plunge to holding her. She is getting more and more confident with people everyday!
Estelle is roughly 2 years of age and has had afew litters of kittens on the streets before being rescued.
She had three little babies in foster care and at the time her carers were also fostering two neonatals that were about two and a half weeks older than her babies. Once her little ones arrived she INSISTED we give her the other two as well and they also became her babies. She then became a mum of five instead of just three.
She just wants to be loved she’s just a little scared at first.
She’s never once been aggressive towards humans or cats. She has only swiped her carers dog once when the dog was all up in her business other than that she’s been great adapting to the German shepherd. She’s even starting to slowly go up to her now too.
She seems to really love men. Whenever her foster dad leaves she will cry out for him. She also loves our boy cat but she happily interacts with all five of her carers other cats. She would really suit a home with another friendly cat. She’s most likely to be submissive as she has submitted to all of her carers animals (she will however stand up for herself when the dog gets too into her business understandably)
When she first came to us she would never eat in front of us, she would hide away in her carrier until we were well and truly out of sight but now she will come running and stand right at her carers feet whenever she shakes the treats packet.
Estelle understands the term “Breakfast!” As her call to food.
She knows what her name is even if she likes to ignore us most of the time while she lives in her own little world relaxing either on the top shelf of the cupboard, under the dining table or outside in the catio. She’s also recently started getting cozy under the couch when she just wants to have a chill day sleeping and being left alone.
She very much likes to be close even if she doesn’t always want to be pat or held. With the right person who can dedicate some consistency to that she will learn that being held can be a wonderful thing. She has shown such great potential for getting use to being held.
She would best suit a home that will keep her exclusively indoors but somewhere with a catio would be a major plus as she loves to go outside and sit in the sun.
We have two garden beds in our catio with some cat grass in them which she loves. And she’s also trained to go to the toilet out there but she also knows how to use a litter box too.
Estelle knows to use the scratching post instead of any furniture or the carpet.
She is very much a mum She likes to know where her family is and she will call out if she can’t find everyone and will do the rounds to check on everyone.
She loves a good windowsill and often likes to sit in them and watch the world. During the day she will usually pick one to perch herself on or near but during the night she will do a fantastic job of checking the perimeter and looking out of all her spots.
She has just in the last couple of weeks started learning to play which has been so beautiful to watch. She will run around the house with her kittens and one of our younger cats. She also loves playing with little mice toys.
Still a bit scared of toys where she needs to interact with humans to play but she is becoming more and more curious.
Watching her learn what safe means has been an absolute pleasure. She’s gone from a girl who wouldn’t even lay down or close her eyes to sleep to a cat that will put her head down and completely conk out. She rolls around on the floor asking for love from our other pets.
We give her wet food ie: “Breakfast” once a day and leave biscuits out for her the rest of the day. She eats from a sunflower snuffle mat and seems to prefer that over the bowl of biscuits.
All in all she’s just a really good girl. She’s so beautifully tempered and did not deserve to spend most of her life on the streets. I’m so glad she found her way to us and I know she’s going to make someone feel so happy and blessed when she finds her forever home!
