Meet Cortez - a beautiful, low maintenance husky who is very reluctantly needing to be rehomed due to a dog allergy.

If you love huskies, this one is an absolute dream dog! She's on the smaller side for a husky at around 23kgs and mostly floof. She doesn't dig under fences or try to sneak out the door or jump the fence, she doesn't howl, is food motivated with training, absolutely loves going anywhere in the car, doesn't need to be crated, isn't destructive in any way and would be fine with a smaller yard. She's super sweet and cuddly, loves pats (will nudge you with her head to get you to keep going) and just wants to be around her people.

With other dogs, she's playful and excited, but usually prefers larger dogs as playmates. She has been an only dog recently but has previously shared her home with other dogs, and we believe she would be best suited to a home with another resident dog to keep her company when the humans are out. She comes on strong wanting to play with other dogs, but doesn't always read their body language well (she's a little socially awkward, but in a cute way.)

She has had great training, sits well, responds well to redirection if she's too excited and will happily move through her repertoire of tricks in exchange for treats. She settles well when out in public and loves to just mooch around and cuddle at home, or do her puzzles (she comes with her collection of food puzzles).

She does not have super high exercise requirements, unlike many huskies. She walks well on lead, not pulling much at all for her breed - and loves a quick dip in the creek (on lead of course!) She currently gets two shorter walks a day for a total of around 30-45 minutes and this suits her just fine, although she's always up for longer adventures anytime!

Cortez will currently cry a little when she's left home alone, and would do best with a home who has somebody home the majority of the time (part time working, WFH, a family), and a resident compatible dog for company for when humans aren't around. She responds well to positive reinforcement training and gentle consistent care. Cortez is currently on a low-cost medication that would be best to continue.

NOTE: This gorgeous girl is a low-maintenance husky, but normal husky rules still apply - you need a decent fence and a yard, she doesn't have great recall so can't go off lead without fences, and she has a prey drive (with cats, possums, birds and pocket pets) and of course she sheds hair like a husky! Arctic dog experience is preferred, but not strictly necessary.

Huskies like this are a RARE find as rescues - she's an absolute delight of a dog with the sweetest fun-loving personality. Her current owner is devastated to need to rehome her due to bad allergies, but confident she'll find an amazing new home. She's mostly relaxed at home but can get into playful mode pretty fast with humans too if you amp her up a little. She loves playing tug with her toys and does the most hilarious zoomies after she's done a poo in the backyard!
