About Evie
Evie is a seven month old Black German Shepherd who was found running in the bush for a few days and then brought into an animal holding facility after being picked up on New Year’s Eve. She was not coping at all well being confined in the kennels.
She is now being fostered in a family home with another German Shepherd and a young child.
Evie is very timid, but has bonded quickly with her foster-host(dog), following him everywhere and copying his every move. She is still somewhat aloof with humans, although better than she was.
She will need an owner with lots of patience and someone who is prepared to provide obedience training to give structure for her to come out of her shell.
She is so wanting a home where she can connect with her family and show how much love she can give to her humans.
Evie is now toilet trained and crate trained, and walks well on a lead, and anything she does not already know she is quick to learn.
Evie is an energetic playful dog who will be suited to a home with either a single person or a couple that have experience with the German Shepherd breed and have the time and commitment for this young dog. She needs constant companionship eg family members at home (and maybe a dog sibling).
We want Evie to go to a home where she will be an integral family member.
She has not been tested with cats or pocket pets.
If you understand the nature of the German Shepherd, have recently owned this breed, and are looking for a companion dog then please consider Evie.
If you think you can give me a new home please contact us by selecting "Enquire about Evie".
If you live in Queensland or Victoria, you can be considered, however you will need to be able to drive to Windsor with your family and any dogs to meet Evie. If for any reason she doesn't fit your family you will be responsible for bringing her back to Sydney or helping us to rehome from your home.
Medical notes
Evie has been microchipped, vaccinated and wormed. She will be desexed later.
Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
