About Benji
************** PLEASE APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ****************************
Benji is a handsome 7-year-old male German Shepherd who finds himself looking for a forever home due to no fault of his own. Benji’s owner’s health has been declining and she has made the heartbreaking decision to give up her best friend so that he can have the life he deserves.
Benji is the sweetest boy who just loves everyone he meets. Benji hasn’t been played with much lately and when our volunteer went to assess him, he was like a bouncing puppy, so excited to have someone to play with! Benji can be quite jumpy initially and a little boisterous, he doesn’t have any experience with children therefore we are looking for a home where everyone is over the age of 8 years old.
Benji is very food motivated and eager to participate in training sessions and engage with people, he would love to do small, frequent training sessions at home so that he can perfect his manners and learn new skills. Benji does already know his basic commands and walks very well on lead.
Benji has not left his yard in recent years, despite this he is still a happy go lucky boy that enjoys the freedom walks bring and happily sniffs along at a slow pace, munching on grass along the way. Benji has poor muscle tone and no stamina, he needs to slowly build back up to an active daily lifestyle so that he can enjoy going on walks and adventures with his new family.
Benji has grown up living with cats and chickens and got along very well with both. Benji may be suitable to live with a cat again in his new home, however gradual introductions and the ability to separate is a must.
Benji has not seen another dog in quite some time and can be a little reactive to them out on walks, he is easily managed and able to be distracted and moved on, but he will need to build up his confidence around other dogs when out walking slowly overtime. Benji has reportedly been ok with visiting large-breed dogs previously, he may be ok living with a large-breed female dog that is friendly and placid, he would also be fine as the only dog in his new home.
Benji is an affectionate, friendly boy who is desperate for love and attention. Benji has the sweetest temperament and will make a fantastic family companion, he would love to be welcomed inside and included as part of the family with a big fluffy bed of his very own.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
