About Mika
Mika is a cheerful and energetic pup and loves the companionship of people. She is lively and affectionate and loves to be close to her family.
Whilst Mika loves other dogs, due to her excited nature she loves to go straight into play instead of making sure the other dog is happy to receive this attention. For this reason, introductions to new dogs should be gradual and knowing if the other dog is ok with it.
Mika will be well suited to a home preferably with no small children. She has a lot of energy and she may accidentally knock them over when she gets excited. In saying this, she is a gentle dog when kept below threshold.
She will also benefit from a home where her owners are more present rather than absent. Whilst she does fine on her own to help support her anxiety she would benefit from a great and solid routine and predictability.
She loves going for runs in a safe environment so a fully fenced large backyard would be perfect for her. She loves natural grass and loves the sun and will enjoy sun baking after some games with her owner. Apartment living is not ideal for her as she favours grassed backyards.
Mika was diagnosed with anxiety when she was a small puppy. We intervened straight away with an amazing and supportive Behaviourist. She is now on prozac which helps take the edge off. Her anxiety is displayed through hyper vigilance, pacing and hyperarousal/reactivity. She doesn't do well with loud noises / noisy kids and will require a quiet and calm household in a quiet area to feel at peace.
We would love her new owners to have a thorough understanding of a dog with anxiety and or previous experience with this behaviour. She may benefit from another friend that likes to play or at least doesn’t mind an energetic companion. She requires support and patience. Training will be apart of her life, and we are after a committed owner that will continue her training so she can continue to be more calm and happy. Her care team and I believe if she is in the right environment she will benefit greatly. If you believe you can provide this for her we would love to hear from you.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
