About Boston
************** PLEASE APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ****************************
Boston is a stunning long-haired German Shepherd who was recently found as a stray. Boston had no microchip, and no-one came forward to claim him, it is believed he is approximately 12 months old. Boston now finds himself alone in the pound, confused and worried about what is next, he needs our help to bust out of the pound and to find his forever family.
Boston is a friendly boy who loves meeting new people, unfortunately he has not shown to have much in the way of manners at the pound and jumps up and mouths everyone he meets. Boston does eventually settle and calms down enough to enjoy a pat and chest scratch, however he becomes overstimulated easily and will jump up to seek reassurance when he is unsure what is expected of him. Boston will need to work on his manners, we expect this jumping will calm considerably once he is in a home environment, however for now, he needs to go to a home where everyone is over the age of 16 years old.
Boston LOVES treats, he was very thin when he was found and as a result is very motivated to work for food and learns very quickly. Boston has already learned to sit and drop and is using his new found skills to practice his impulse control. Boston is eager to please and loves participating in training sessions, his new family will need to be committed to working with him long-term on his training, he would thrive attending professional obedience classes and may like to participate in agility and other dog sports.
Boston is an active boy that will need plenty of exercise in his new home. Boston has a quick mind and will need to be kept mentally stimulated through enrichment, training sessions and activities that will keep him busy and using his brain. Boston’s new family must have experience with high-energy, boisterous dogs that need consistent boundaries within the home, he is not suited to a first-time German Shepherd owner.
Boston has tested well with other dogs in the pound, he is friendly and seems to calm down when in the presence of another calm dog. Boston would likely benefit from living with an older large-breed dog that can show him the ropes, the other dog needs to have the right combination of confidence and tolerance so that Boston can learn acceptable dog-social behaviour when he is over-excited.
Boston has not been tested with cats or other small pocket pets.
Boston is a goofy teenage boy who loves to play and loves to train and work for food. Boston is a project dog that needs to work on his manners and will need a firm but fair approach by his humans when setting consistent boundaries in his new home. Boston is an affectionate boy that has a heart of gold, we know that with some training and love he will make the most amazing companion!

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
