About Nellie
I’m a 9-month-old female Labradoodle. My name is Nellie but my foster parents call me Missy which I prefer.
Apparently, I have Shakers Syndrome (a very mild form) but you would hardly know it. I have 5mgs of Valium each day and Prednisone as directed but this hardly labels me as a drug addict. Please read up on my condition and make sure you can provide me with the appropriate care and support but as I said, you will hardly notice I have got it.
(My rescue folks will supply medication for 12 months should I need it).
I'm recently toilet trained and I have not had an accident indoors for 2 weeks so I’m getting pretty good. Daily walks and access to the back yard works a treat.
I have a lovely soft non-shedding coat that needs regular brushing which I love but as I have just been groomed for summer, this is not much of a chore at the moment.
As I am such a gentle, affectionate and loving soul, I get along with dogs and cats, but I prefer humans so a doggo brother or sister isn't a prerequisite for me.
Lots of things are still new to me and as I am a strong girl and still learning to walk on the lead, I am best suited to older children and adults who can continue my training as I’m a bit of a sniffer. I am getting better at travelling in the car, especially when I know I am going to the dog park – just strap me in, wind down the window and I’ll sit peacefully.
I'm not a huge eater but I’m a bit of a grazier so please leave my food out till I’ve finished. I do like my fresh chicken wing each morning along with a cup of dry food and a bone during the day to keep me from chewing slippers (yes, I’m a bit of a shoe thief but then no one’s perfect). For dinner I have a mixture of cooked vegetables, chicken and pork mince.
I'm fine home alone for long periods with some calming country music, (Dolly is my favourite), toys and a good bone. Apparently, my foster dad claims I do not bark, so I guess this is a plus. Also, I am not fazed by the vacuum, blow vac or by storms. I love my foster dad’s bed, but he has trained me to sleep on my own bed just outside his door.
I am looking forward to settling into my new home with parents I can lavish love and affection on.
Medical notes
Nellie has mild shaker syndrome which is not detriments to her health.
SPARQ will provide medical support for this condition only for the first 12 months of her adoption.

Welcome to Small Paws Animal Rescue QLD.
We aim to place each of our animals with the best family possible.
Our adoption process may seem a little complex, we ask a lot of questions. But there are reasons for this.
1. Our animals in care are like our children.
2. We want to match the best humans with the animals to ensure you are happy and our animals are happy.
3. We don't want animals to come back to us. We want their family to be forever.
So our adoption process begins with an application being completed.
Once we receive the application we will assess it on face value of the answers you have provided.
Once we can determine if you sound like a good fit, we will call you to chat a bit further.
This is when we will schedule a meet and greet with your potential new family member/s.
We may need you to have more than one meet, especially if you have other pet/s that need to be introduced or children and other human family members.
We will confer with our foster carer, and advise you as soon as possible if you were successful in your meet and greet.
Once we have confirmed your success, we will arrange for the paperwork to be completed including the adoption payment.
We allow our foster carers time to say goodbye to their foster babies, it can be hard for some to give them to their new homes and we recognise all the hard work and dedication they have put in to ensure that your new family member has been safe and is ready to go to their forever home.
We will keep in contact with you for 2 weeks during a "trial" adoption period. There are terms and conditions to be met and we will advise you of these.
Once the trial period has ended we will send you the paperwork for your new family member.
At any time after this - if you need assistance you can always contact us.
