About Bernie - 4 Year Old Maltese (On Trial)
Meet Bernie the Maltese! Bernie is cute, cuddly, people orientated but most of all cheeky! He is very gentle and loving. He loves to play with his people, including young children and loves other dogs. He is excitable and can be bouncy when first meeting new people, or when you walk in the door!
Bernie has missed out on some important early training in his informative years, but the good news is, he’s only 4 years old! He has plenty of time to learn new tricks.
The ideal home for Bernie would be with someone knowledgeable of the breed, has experience in training or willing to take him to training. He requires a very secure home as he has no recall or road sense, yet. Bernie would be best suited to a family where someone is home more often than not.
He has shown some anxiety when cars drive by which manifests as barking. While he knows his basic commands in a quiet environment, he does require training to calmly walk on a lead, learn boundaries and recall.
Bernie deserves a loving forever home, one with parents willing to continue to work on his training and the ability to provide mental and physical stimulation. He loves human company so he would need to be welcomed inside when the family is home and be involved in his new family’s life. Bernie requires a very secure yard with no gaps, secure fences, locked gates and a fenced front yard. Applications that do not have these will not be considered. A thorough yard check will be completed prior to any meet and greets.
