About Andy - 8 Week Old Husky X Border Collie (On Trial)
Black and white sweetheart boy (Likely husky/border collie mix) ready for adoption late January 2023
Andy is a super smart, adventurous and confident little pup. He hasn’t had the best start to life arriving to care with a broken leg. With amazing vet care and a little TLC he is fully healed and super ready to start a new amazing life with his forever family. He loves to run, wrestle, play, chew, dig, eat, and sleep.
His little personality is truly blossoming. He adores his foster-sister - a Staffy girl, and has learnt great doggy manners both from her, and has basic obedience training. He is a little sponge and absorbs anything you want to teach him. He has amazing recall, sits, stay, leave it and waits for dinner. His toilet training is on point. He will not jump up and knows to sit for pats. His favourite time of the day is a cuddle on the lounge in the evening. Of a daytime he is happy to play outside in the yard and chase leaves and sticks and play with enrichment toys. He is strongly independent and not a pest under foot. He has successfully been left for a few hours each day without issue.
It would be great if Andy could go to a home that has another dog he can play with while their owners are out and about. Otherwise, a home with owners who can give him plenty of enrichment and exercise will also be considered.
Overview
• Andy needs a fully fenced yard with no small gaps
• an active family who has time and energy to take him on outings and adventures to fulfill his exercise and social needs
• a family committed to ongoing obedience training, exercise, play, walks and toilet training.
• to be welcomed inside the family home day and sleep inside at night.
• To be included in family adventures and holidays. He already loves going out on the boat and for drives in the car.

Andy is in foster care in the Belmont, NSW area. They are not currently available for interstate adoption. The adoption fee is $700.00. As he is not yet desexed, he is only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a DRN approved vet for desexing when he is approximately 5 months old. Please NO out of area applications.
PLEASE NOTE: Dog Rescue Newcastle provides individual listings with specific requirements for each foster dog. If you submit an application or inquiry and DO NOT receive a response within 5 business days, please understand that you have not met the specific requirements for this dog. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time.
