Tidda

Tidda has been nicknamed Wiggly Waggly because when she wags her tail her whole body joins in, she's such a sweet loving and gentle girl.
With her calm and gentle personality and loving heart this sweet baby will make a lovely addition to your family.
We think Tidda is a bit of a mix of perhaps Staffy x Labrador x Kelpie
At just 24 kilos Tidda is a lovely size med girl

She is a calm and relaxed girl who is happy to stay at home on her own during the day and then join in the family activities at night when her family gets home. When I am working from home, she will sleep on her bed next to me, or outside in the backyard. She rarely gets restless and has not shown any signs of being destructive inside.
She loves human affection and will do almost anything for a treat.
At just 24 kilos she's a nice size med girl who will make a lovely addition to most family situations.

Favorite Things
Tidda didn’t know what to do with toys when she first arrived but is making up for lost time and learning to play independently with all her toys. She loves to play tug of war. Sometimes she goes to find her human sister’s toys she thinks will be fun to play with. Tidda enjoys daily walks but most of all her snuggle relaxing time with her people is her favorite time.

Interaction with humans
Tidda is a sensitive girl who can sometimes get a bit insecure around strangers. When Tidda was new in her foster home, she would occasionally growl if a stranger was being too forceful around her during the first few minutes of them meeting. As soon as she was convinced the stranger was friendly, she would love them and play with them as if she had known them forever. We clearly noticed that it was only when strangers tried to interact with her that she got insecure. If a stranger came in and just ignored her, she didn’t get insecure. During her time in foster care, we have tried to expose her to as many people as possible, and towards the end she has shown great improvement. Tidda shows clear signs of previous abuse, which is likely the reason why she gets insecure around strangers. To overcome her insecurities, she will benefit from having many positive experiences with strangers. Tidda was assessed by a professional behaviorist trainer ands he was comfortable with Tidda in a stable home her occasional insecurity would disappear
Sometimes when she is patted on top of her head by someone she doesn’t know well, she will cower down, but with some reassurance and a pat under the chin she regains her confidence. If Tidda is in a new environment she will explore the new area until she feels comfortable to relax. Tidda does not like raised voices, and will cower down if someone raises their voice around her.
Tidda has engaged with teenagers and adored them and enjoyed playing with them . In her current foster home, Tidda has met a few children and she has been very gentle around them.

Obedience Training

Tidda can sit, shake and drop, stay, and ‘find it’ with food rewards. Tidda is very food motivated, but sometimes has a bit of selective hearing when not offered a treat. Her recall at home is excellent, but we have not tried her off lead outside or at a dog park. Tidda is walking well on lead and is learning to not pull when she sees something that excites her like another dog. Tidda has a few times launched herself towards cars that have driven past. This is something we have been working on and she seems to be improving.
Tidda is very attentive and respects boundaries around the house very well. If she does something that isn’t allowed, she listens straight away when told ‘no’.

Animal Social Skills
We have not tested her with cats, but she seems to want to chase them when she sees them on walks, so we don’t think she would do well with a cat in the home.

Tidda lived with another dog and they did play well but they found that when the other dog tried to tell her off she was really not very accommodating to his ideas so to be on the safe side we seek an only dog home as she does not respond well to dominant dogs in the home.
When meeting dogs on walks, Tidda is always well behaved and is very gentle, even though she gets very excited. Even when other dogs have barked at her aggressively, she has been well behaved.
Based on this we feel Tidda is best suited as an only dog.

Food

Tidda is currently eating 2 meals a day. If her kibbles are mixed with something, she will eat it straight away. If given just kibbles she sometimes takes a few hours to finish her food. Tidda has been putting on weight since she arrived in foster care and is now looking for a healthier weight for her size.

Independence
Tidda is fine to leave at home alone while you are out and about. We always leave her outside when we need to leave her alone, but we think she would be fine to leave inside since she hasn’t shown any signs of being destructive while inside. bored.
Bathing & Hygiene
We have taken Tidda to the dog wash twice, and even though she didn’t seem to love it, she was very well behaved.
Sleeping
Tidda is used to sleeping both outside, inside in a crate, and inside on the sofa. All of them has worked well for her.
Exercise
Tidda needs to be walked each day for about 30-60 minutes. She is also happy to play to burn off energy, whether this is with the family or her own toys, she loves to play tug of war. Also, training her for 10 minutes is great for her mind. Tidda loves to do zoomies and will need a backyard big enough for her to be able to do so.
Inside the home
Tidda is fully toilet trained and had no accidents whilst in foster care. She will go and wait by the door when she needs to go outside. She has learnt to use the dog door to move in and out of the home. Tidda does like to be inside with you and will generally follow you around or play with toys if you are busy working. She has not shown destructive behavior but sometimes is not aware what is her toy and what is not. She likes chewing on bones.
Ideal Home
Tidda would be best suited to a family that wants to include her in their lives. She loves to be with you and her big smile will make you want to spend more time with her. Tidda can jump on people when she gets excited, and can forget her size, so we believe she would be best suited to a family with older children.
A home with a nice size yard with secure fencing that has shade and grass for her to laze around on and run around and play.
A home that can walk her daily and that will allow her indoor and outdoor access
An experienced home that can continue her lead skills and help her develop her lead walking dog social skills. She also needs a family that will continue to work on her insecurities and make her feel safe and confident.
