About Lily
Our Beautiful Lily is a precious gift and we are looking for a very special family who will love Lily for the rest of her life.
Raised in a cage and used for back yard breeding, this little girl has done the hard yards. Most of her life has been spent in a cage or tied up by a rope so Lily has a huge fear of the collar and the lead. Her foster mum has been amazing in getting Lily used to her collar, but the lead is still the bearer of bad memories for this girl, so her new family need to understand this and be prepared to work with her to overcome this fear. A nice gentle walk each day will be necessary to build Lily’s confidence and help her understand that it’s OK, nobody will ever hurt her again.
Lily also has some muscle atrophy in her hind legs because she has never run or played or had the chance to be a happy dog. This has improved since she has come into rescue and will continue to improve over time with gentle walks and play.
Despite all that has happened to her, Lily loves everyone and everything Her smile is infectious and her tail, when she learned to wag it, has not stopped. It’s such a new sensation for Lily that she sometimes loses balance when her tail takes off.
Lily is missing having her best friend around. So the family that we are looking for will ideally have another dog, perhaps an older, calmer boy, who can teach her that she is safe and that life can be wonderful if you have the right family with the right amount of love.
We have now had Lily desexed, so no more litters for this little one. She is in surprisingly good health. The vet advised she has some wear on her teeth due to biting the cage, and her muscles will keep improving with a good diet and some supplements, but there are no other health concerns.
The family we want for Lily will look something like this:
1. Quiet, calm, patient. Lily loves everyone but we think, given the life she has had, she will blossom in a caring and quiet home with company all day.
2. Have another dog for Lily to bond with. She loves having a furry friend and we hope we can find someone with an older dog who will become Lily’s best friend.
3. Lily will need to be walked on the lead every day as part of her training and to slowly teach her to overcome her fear of the lead and the collar.
4. Stability. Security. Patience. Kindness. And most importantly LOVE. This little girl has a ton of it to give.
Lily’s rescue and healing has just begun. Are you the family who will be lucky enough to have this little girl become part of your life?
