Rusty is very keen to meet you!
- Rusty's very keen about everything, actually - a 5 month old bundle of ginger & white energy.
- Rusty's a very outgoing, confident, and inquisitive kitten, who sees the world as his plaything. He can entertain himself quite happily with toys, cardboard boxes, cat tunnels, toilet rolls, or just racing up and down the passage, or jumping on the cat tree or other furniture. His carers are teaching him to stay off tables and he has not to date been caught walking on kitchen benches. He loves exploring every nook and cranny, and will try to jump into any open cupboard or drawer.
- Rusty will sleep on his carers' bed, on the cat tree, in an actual cat bed occasionally, or a mat - he just powers down whenever his growing body says so.
- Rusty also loves to play with people, dogs, and cats. He can be very cuddly and affectionate, is happy to be picked up, and enjoys a purry snuggle. He sees everyone as a playmate, but sometimes gets too excited and may want to nip or wrestle. His carers are teaching him to be gentle, and his current foster siblings are teaching him boundaries. At bedtime, when he's relaxed, they often all sleep on the same bed.
- Rusty's boisterousness may be too intense for more sensitive (including some older) pets, but he got on well staying with a Rottweiler for a few hours and enjoys the company of the two older cats in his foster home (when they allow).
- Rusty would most enjoy a household that has many options for play - be it humans or other pets. Although he happily plays by himself, he'll thrive on stimulation and interaction with others.
- Rusty would not be suitable for small children at this stage in his life, but older kids who understand cats may be ideal.
- Rusty has a healthy appetite, and is not fussy about food choices. He's tidy using the litter box, and grooms himself.
- He is learning how to use the cat flap to access the enclosed catio at his foster home. A catio would be helpful for integration with other cats, as it can provide more space and time out for any cat who needs it.
- If you feel Rusty would be a very fun, affectionate, energetic addition to your life, contact us to organise a meet and greet.

SAFE Busselton requests that all persons adopting a cat adhere to responsible containment practices. As per the current Cat Laws in WA we encourage people to keep their rescued cat as a permanent indoor cat or with access to a safe cat run. It is no longer desirable to allow your cat to wander onto adjoining properties. Confident cats can also be trained to walk on a harness and lead. We ask that owners be responsible and keep their adopted cat safe at all times so that you will have a long and loving life together. Information on cat enclosures can be found here: https://safe.org.au/catios
SAFE Busselton reserves the right to select adoptive homes based on ""best fit"" for the pet. Although all applications will be considered, being the first application will not necessarily provide an advantage as the adoption committee considers many factors when matching animals to their new home.
