About Hera
Hi! I'm Hera and I'm looking for a new family to call my own
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR HERA
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/BLuYyJiqjJT8VDEn6
NOTE: You are unable to meet Hera until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Hera in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• BREED KNOWLEDGE IS PREFERRED
• A patient family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time.
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• To be allowed inside with my family
• I arrived at the shelter as a stray so my history is unknown. Due to this, my interaction with cats, pocket pets or fowl that are free roaming in the house or yard is completely unknown. There can be no guarantee that I will be ok living with them, so it is recommended that I don't go to a home that has them. At the shelter I found them fun to bark at
• I prefer a home with no other dogs as I appear nervous of all dogs I've met at the shelter. I'm happy to walk past them while out walking but I need to grow in confidence before I have a doggie housemate
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• A family who promise to keep me well groomed and brush me regularly so I'm always looking and feeling my best
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be a bit nervous/shy in new situations. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidentally scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• No other dogs - I don't mind passing them and saying hi when out and about but I appear nervous of interacting with other dogs
• Cats, rabbits, guinea pigs & livestock - I find them fun to bark at and may chase them.
My best features:
• Gentle & placid
• Well mannered
. I can sit on command
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had little training experience yet
• I'm learning to walk on the lead at the shelter and am getting much better. I'm still a bit slow and fearful but with lots of practice I should soon look forward to a daily stroll
