Waves

What a truly adorable and quirky little pup is Waves! This pup is pure perfection and even though his foster mum NEVER has favourites when it comes to dogs in her care, Waves is absolutely, 100%, without a doubt her favourite puppy of 2022, if not her favourite puppy ever (don’t tell the others!).

We are torn over whether he looks more like a baby wombat, a baby dugong, or a baby piglet (think Wilbur from Charlottes Web!), but whatever it is, we seriously doubt that a more placid, friendly, easy-going pup than Waves exists on the planet right now. He is a friend to all people of all ages, respectful and playful with other dogs and is even a good companion to cats. With his pure white coat (with rolls and rolls of loose skin), sweet and expressive little face (complete with a very kissable splodgy black and pink little nose), and gorgeously expressive human-like eyes, we know he will make a perfect addition to a wide variety of families. He would suit older people, younger people, families with children or a single person - with or without other pets. He just loves to be cuddled and kissed and doted upon, and his funny little tail wriggles with hopeful anticipation whenever someone approaches him for a pat. When playing on the floor, his foster mum loves to blow raspberries on his fat little pink belly, and he wriggles around with glee - we swear we can hear him giggling like a 9 month old baby! He also loves to be carried around and snuggled up close and his happy place is without a doubt right next to his foster mum on the couch, or even better, sprawled across her lap with his head in one hand and his little bottom tucked into the other. This little guy is just too loveable to be true - and he will provide a lifetime of pride, joy and canine friendship to whoever is lucky enough to adopt him.

SOCIALISATION

Waves has been fostered in a home with four large, boisterous resident dogs. He is very respectful of the bigger dogs and gives them a wide berth, but he is also confident enough to try and invite them to play with him. He reads their body language well, but has formed a lovely friendship with the youngest of the resident dogs, an adolescent female kelpie. He has enjoyed playing tug of war, wrestling and pouncing around her trying to entice him into a game of chase. Waves has been in foster care with three cats and behaves beautifully around them. He is generally disinterested in them, although he will sit quietly and study them intently if they are sitting or lying on the floor in front of him. Resident cats who are confident around dogs will be able to “train” him fully in cat etiquette in no time.

Waves has also been in care with children aged 10 years and older and has loved being in their company. He is a quiet dog who prefers gentle and encouraging play rather than being roughed up and overly stimulated - so children who are quiet, kind and gentle would be ideal playmates for this boy. We can imagine him sitting quietly and appreciatively at an afternoon tea party with his doll friends, or being a quiet supportive companion while homework problems are solved. As with all puppies, any children in the home must never be left alone with him, for the safety of all. Waves would make a perfect dog for families who are looking for a “beginner” dog, provided that everyone understands that he is still a young puppy who may exhibit young puppy behaviour for several months to come.

EXERCISE AND ENRICHMENT

Waves is very chilled out and he does not demand a huge level of physical or mental stimulation. He will require a walk outside of his home each and every day of his life - however he does not need to be walked for hours at a time, just a 30-45 minute walk each day will be enough to keep him happy and healthy.
Due to his age, Waves has so far not been walked outside the acreage where he has been in care and has not had any experience walking on the lead. However, his placid nature, attention and devotion to people means he will likely be very easy to train to walk on as he grows.

Waves has quite a big, deep bark for a little puppy but is not a big barker in general and we do not imagine him causing any problems in a suburban environment.

Waves is everything a puppy should be and just loves his toys - he would love a huge basket of toys to play with and to carry around. Like all pups, if there are no toys to play with, he will happily find and chew on anything nearby that happens to take his fancy, including shoes, socks and treasured human toys. His new owners therefore need to be prepared to “puppy-proof” their home to ensure he doesn’t get himself into serious trouble until he grows out of his puppy phase, which will only be a few short months away. Waves is literally a “clean slate” and apart from already knowing the “sit” command, he requires training from scratch. He is smart and eager to learn and just LOVES treats so he will be very easy to train and will make his owners super proud of him in no time.

EATING AND SLEEPING

Waves is definitely a lover of naps, especially if he has someone to snuggle up next to on the couch. He also settles easily by himself on a dog bed on the floor if he gets beaten to his foster mum’s lap by his foster siblings. Due to the number of dogs living in his foster home, he currently sleeps by himself in a crate inside the house. He whines a little bit to begin with however he settles quickly and sleeps all night between 10pm - 6am. He does not chew the bedding in his crate and as stated, he has never had a toileting accident inside his crate.
Waves currently eats twice a day and is on a diet of Royal Canin premium dry puppy food. It is recommended that puppies be fed on specialist puppy food for at least 12-18 months to ensure their growing bodies get all the nutrition they need.

CAR TRAVEL

Waves is still too small to jump into or out of the car. However, he has been happy to be lifted into the car - he whines a little with anxiety before settling onto the back seat where he goes to sleep while he is being driven around. Waves has shown no sign of being affected by travel sickness although he has only experienced short car trips so far.

IDEAL HOME

Waves is an absolutely beautiful puppy who would make a perfect match for a wide variety of families. If his new family has an existing dog, it must be an older, friendly female canine companion who will be patient with his puppy ways. He would also thrive as a single dog with all the attention devoted to him. He must be allowed to live both indoors and out, as a valuable member of his family. Waves is suitable for families with children aged 5 years and above, provided that children are kind and gentle. Waves would also be suitable in a home with existing cats who are confident around dogs.
Waves is absolutely adored by his foster family and only the most loving forever home will be chosen for him.



If could have my wish for my new home I would love the following
Children - I would love to have some children if possible who are gentle and kind and loving but mature enure to know I need lots of un interrupted nap time while of grow and who won't drop me so over 5 would be nice
I would love a secure backyard that has grass for me to play in with shelter and shade and room for me to run so no little units or tiny terrace yards
I would be fine with cats as Im young enough to learn
