About Mateo
Mateo is a very sweet and relaxed cat.
It is fair to say Mateo did not have the greatest start to life.. he came into care with half a leg missing but it has not dampened his spirit! He was friendly and affectionate as soon as he arrived at his foster home. He is also very mobile and there are no ongoing health issues caused by his amputation. He is a happy and healthy boy.
Mateo is very relaxed and appreciates some good down time.. he is an excellent napping companion. While he will share your pillow with you he does appreciate a pillow and blanket all his own to snuggle comfortably by your side.
He loves to have his head cupped when getting neck scratches or forehead rubs and he really appreciates a good pat. He has a surprisingly expressive face and cracks up his foster carer daily with his funny little looks. Mateo hasn’t purred much since being in care but you can tell he’s happy by the look on his face and his mouth dropping open just a little bit. He really seems to be enjoying the indoor life and making the most of having a safe place to sleep day and night.
Mateo has not shown much interest in socialising with the other cats in his foster home but he has not displayed any aggression towards them either, so he could be suited to a single or multi-cat household, indoor only.
Medical notes
Mateo had a hind limb amputation after he was brought into rescue care with a severe injury to his leg. Half his leg was missing, likely from trauma such as being hit by a car. The remaining leg stump was fractured and twisted, and unfortunately not functional. Mateo is managing incredibly well with three legs and has no other medical issues.
