About Tommy
A message from Tommy
I haven’t had the best start to life. Amazing Greys rescued me after I had been dumped at a rural shelter with wounds all over my body, broken teeth, a large gash on my front leg and only 23kgs! But that hasn’t stopped me from being the most happy and loving dog you’ll ever meet. I’ve already put on 14kgs and my wounds are healing. Now it’s time for me to find a loving home and spend the rest of my life getting the care I deserve.
I am a community favourite. Everyone that meets me just falls in love—the vets that helped me (before I was rescued) even wanted to keep me as a clinic pet! I am really good with dogs of all sizes and even ignored the cats at the vet clinic. So I must say, I’m a pretty special greyhound!
I have adjusted really well to pet life and am comfortable being home alone when my human needs to go out. I get along really well with my foster sibling and other dogs I come across on my walks. I love a good pat from those I walk by too. I’ve even mastered the stairs. My foster carer says I’m a super fast learner. I’m so excited to continue growing and learning in my forever home.
About Tommy
Tommy has certainly had a rough start in life. When we first rescued him, he was severely underweight, and covered in wounds and bandages. But what a difference a loving foster home makes! His coat is getting shiny, his wounds are healing and he continues to put on weight (thanks to his very healthy appetite). He has been truly resilient during his healing journey— you never would guess what he has been through if you met him.
Despite all the trauma Tommy has experienced, his beautiful nature continues to shine through and make an impact on everyone who meets him. Even during his time at the pound and the vet clinic, he was winning over the hearts of all of the staff members. Tommy is now thriving in a loving foster home and finally enjoying the good life that all dogs deserve.
Tommy has been amazing with all dogs and humans he has met so far. He has been an absolute superstar pet and has been learning new skills each day. Tommy is a fast learner—it took him absolutely no time to master the stairs (which is no easy task for greyhounds). He is comfortable being left home alone and is doing amazing with his toilet training.
Tommy has a beautiful personality and loves to play with his toys. When he isn’t having a play, Tommy is a very relaxed and calm boy. We can’t wait to see his personality continue to grow as he gains confidence in his new home. His new family will need to continue working with him on his journey to a healthy weight and will need to continue monitoring any wounds that are still healing.
