Icy - 10 Year Old Jack Russell Terrier (On Trial)

Icy is a very calm and affectionate, Wirehaired Jack Russell Terrier 🐶. She is 10 years and 10 months old and in excellent health. She has a cute spotted coat and black ears. Her favourite things are sitting next to you, belly rubs and going for a walk.

Icy loves going for walks and walks very nicely on a harness and lead. She is good in the car 🚗. She isn't a nuisance barker but she will let you know when anyone walks past or comes to your door. She likes to have an outdoor area to sniff around in but it doesn’t have to be large. She’d be fine in a villa with a courtyard.

Icy loves to be near you. 💝 She is very much an inside girl and needs to be welcome inside, on your furniture, and to sleep inside. She is well housetrained. She is not suitable to be let off the lead but you can use an extra-long lead to let her explore in open spaces.

She is fine left at home alone inside for a few hours at a time but not all day. So, we're looking for a home where there is someone home most of the time (no full-time workers).

Icy has a double layer coat: soft underneath with a longer, wiry top coat. She has very cute whiskers around her face. Being a terrier, she does shed. She needs regular brushing and occasional bathing. She can be clipped if you want to keep her coat shorter in summer. She weighs 10kgs but she needs to lose a couple of kilos.

Icy is good with children but due to her shy nature she isn't suitable to a busy household with children. She’d be fine with small visitors if they will be gentle with her. She is friendly with other dogs but will chase cats.

Icy was sadly surrendered to Dog Rescue Newcastle when her elderly owner passed away. Icy had always been very well loved and looked after. She was a bit timid when she came into care but has opened up and is now very affectionate with her foster carer.

Small dogs like Icy typically live to approximately 16 years so she still has many years full of love to give to her new family. She’s been checked by our vet and has no issues. She will be a perfect companion for some lucky individual or couple.

✅We are looking for a forever home for Icy where there is someone home most of the time, who will make her a big part of their lives; to love her, take her for a daily walk, and let her sit next to them. She can live with another dog, or two or can be an only dog. 🌺

Icy is in foster care in Mount Hutton, NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). ⭐️She is available for adoption within NSW and ACT.

Icy's adoption fee is $400 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms and heartworms, vet checked, microchipped and registered.
