This handsome boy is a med size 30 kilo boy and i lovable mix of staffy x mastiff

Unfortunately our poor boy was surrendered due to no fault of his own as he was left in the yard with not alot of new people interaction so is quite shy and timid when meeting new people but once he gets to know you he has alot of love and kisses to give. His foster mum has fallen in love with him and I'm sure you will too if you give him a chance by applying to meet this gentle soul

Favorite Things

Murphy loves his walks, saying hello to other dogs, playing with other dogs, then coming home and cuddling with his human on the couch. He loves to play with his toys around the house! Happy to chill all day by your side if you want to laze in the sun, curl up with a good book or just pizza and a movie. He's not fussy as long as he can be with you. He enjoys lazy sleep ins and happy to share a portion of your bed if allowed

Interaction with humans

Murphy is a sweetheart but is weary of new people and will want to run and hide and can be quite skittish. He is best meeting people outside where he has some space and to just head off for a walk than be confronted with pats straight away. Once he is able to sniff you out he is happy for pats and back scratches. Once he is comfortable with you he's a big smooch. We feel he is more nervous around men so would prefer a female only home for him or a family that understands this behaviour and is able to work on his confidence. We feel he is best suited to an adult home as young children may scare him and not understand his need for time out. He has shown no aggression. After a settling in period he will be your best snuggle bug.

Obedience and training

Murphy is a very obedient boy with good manners, especially sit !

He doesn't jump,nip or get overly excited !

Fully toilet trained

As Murphy is still settling in we are unsure of his recall but feel this would need a slow process until he has bonded with his owner. Quiet enclosed dog parks would be a great place to practice

Doggy daycare would be a great option to continue his dog socialization

Continued socialization is important and he would benefit great from group training sessions to help build his confidence

Animal social skills

Murphy is polite to dogs he has met. He likes to engage in play and have a good run around and wrestle with dogs of his own size. When he sees a dog out he doesnt pull excessively or bark but does like to say how do you doo🐕🐶. Murphy being quite anxious has not been let off lead with other dogs at the park but did have a playdate in a backyard for a few hours and loved the interaction with his new pal.

Exercise

Murphy shows excitement when his harness comes out and it's very good to stand still and get it put on . He walks very well on the lead with a harness with very minimal pulling. He can be a bit nervous of people walking by but will always want to say hello to other dogs. As with all dogs, introductions need to be slow and controlled

He enjoys a 45 minute walk a day, He loves to sniff and read the daily news, writing his own comments on the way. He does enjoy walking but it doesn’t take much to tire him out. We feel Murphy was not walked much in his previous home. Murphy is a few kilos overweight so exercise is important to get his figure back

Food

Murphy is not food aggressive around people. He is polite around people eating . He has dry biscuits in the morning and then again at night with some wet food, He loves a treat but is not food obsessed. He enjoys chewing cow hooves and carrots for a snack. He is a few kg overweight so we are watching his portions at the moment

Independence

Murphy does love his foster mum but is completely ok being left on his own if you need to work or head out for the day. His mum is happy to leave him inside and he has shown no destructive traits. He prefers to snooze the day away or watch the passers by. He may occasionally bark, but definitely not an excessive barker

Bathing and hygiene

Murphy has an easy to care for short coat, he enjoys a brush or belly scratch

Inside the home

Murphy is happy on his mat or couch. He has not been destructive and is well behaved

He currently sleeps inside at night

He is a dog that enjoys your company so we are looking for a home taht will have him inside when you are home

Ideal home

Murphy's ideal home would be with a human female and possibly another dog. Also female as we do not adopt to same sex dogs

Someone who will be patient and kind and allow Murphy time to warm up to you.

A home that will walk him daily and allow him to socialise with other dogs

A home where he will be allowed inside for cuddles

A quiet home with not to many new people coming and going

He would suit someone who works away from the home as content on his own

Not good with cats
